Do i need to get the mbrp header pipes for the mbrp silencer to fit or can i just get the silencer and put it on my stock header pipes on my 06 apex?

the MBRP silencer will fit your stock exhaust header, will may need to buy the gasket seal for the header pipe to muffler as they can be very stubborn to get out of the stock muffler.

also a great time to put the copper donuts in so you don't lose your y pipes prematurely.

thanks for the help guys..... what about a power commander do i have to re map it

I didn't have to re-map mine, it ran great with the MBRP silencer and loved the sound, not excess noise like some can be, just a nice narly sound over stock

Most power gains are made thru the header/pipes than the muffler. Using a performance muffler and pipe setup will give you small hp gains on a n/a motor. The biggest performance gains you will get with the muffler is weight savings.

ok perfect thanks guys... I just replaced all the donuts along with 2 new headers last year with about 300 miles on them which is why i want to keep them on. Im not really looking for more hp gain. more just a different sound to the sled.... thinking a sidewinder is in the future once they get the bugs worked out of them

MBRP silencer works good for a meaner sound, will impress your buds too, however, I tried one on an 08 Apex, and it lasted one trip, the drone was way too much for my liking, put the stocker back on. For a full day trail ride it was very annoying, you end up working the throttle trying to avoid the objectionable drone RPM, just my experience fwiw.
Cheers.
