Do anyone know how to adjust to the third clip position on the monoshock Apex. I have the yamaha book but nothing is mentioned in it. Would really like to get it adjusted because suspension way to soft. Dealer wants to much to adjust. They told me a hours labor but read on here it is only aminutes work.

I don't know were you're at (fill in location on profile, site rules) but you have to remove the shock from the skid, some may say you don't HAVE to but it make it easier. Then compress and remove the spring, this can be interesting with out the proper tool. Underneath the cam adjuster is the clip, once you get the spring out of the way slide the adjuster toward the shaft and you will see it. Then just move the clip up to the next groove. If yours hasn't been touched it will be at clip one. If your going to do this I really would recomend getting a revalve at the same time. Your shock is three years old (without knowing mileage) and wasn't a great settup to begin with. If you go to the third clip you will be pogoing all over the place, the rebound dampening is non-existent. Also I would go with the heavy spring before using clip three, been there done that, it just isn't a good ride. I have a heavy spring from my Apex left over if interested. A good progressive revalve and a bigger spring are a must for the 06's.

shock

take shock out go to the dealer it takes about 10 minutes, if not get a spring
tool for 45 dollars and do it your self. i put mine in the 3rd clip and it helped
me until i got the big spring.

is that the only way you can adjust it in the skid. And also how much for the heavier spring.

You MUST remove the shock and disassemble the spring its the only way to get your shock set to the 3rd clip position you can remove your shock without having to pull the hole suspension out, a heavier spring will run you about $150.00 CDN and you have to get your shock re-valved when you install a heavier spring and re-valving will run you $100.00 avg.

Check this page I scaned out of last year YAM accessory book you have all of the available springs depending on your weight you probably want a 6.5 p.n./8FU-47489-10-00

Needs help!!!just to the dealer and they don't have the tool to do it...can it be done without the tool...also what would you recommend 2nd or 3rd clip position...

Need more info, Weight, that's total weight as in rider and gear. And which spring, std. or H.D.? Just remember that cranking it up won't be the be all end all as you may have to go on the high side of the preload to help reduce bottoming, which is normally controled through valving. So by just cranking up the spring you will increase ride height (tippyness) and also make the rebound (springboard effect)worse.

Here's a pic of the shock with spring removed you'll notice the 3 "C" clip settings, stock is at the 1st nearest to end so the further you set it towards the centre of the shock the more you compress the spring....for any help on settings like mentioned we need more info on rider weight with gear if possible, if you lived a little closer I'd take your spring off, I made myself a spring & shock PRESS.
