i am going to install a tether switch on my apex, has anyone doe this? i dont know wether to buy a normally open or normally closed switch. i also dont know where to wire it into but im sure i can figure that out. :yam:

E-mail Allen at Ulmer racing. You need a normally closed switch. He can sell you the switch & tell you whic wires to use.

hey rich, what other tethers do you have besides that one? What ones can you get?

i can get ones that go on handle bars also.otherwise the tether cap's are all the same look ( red )

This may sound really dumb, but why is it that our Yammies are to only ones I know of without tethers standard?

I dont know either, they should have come with one, especially since they come with a 12v power outlet. You would think that since yamaha decided to put little things like the outet on, they would have had a tether cord option.

Now I am needing one to race this winter, and need to install one. Going to to and find a place where I dont have to drill through my plastic.

thats why i need it too, i want to asphalt race mine, my dealer recommends one too, he says he has seen i motor start knocking when the driver fell off and sled stayed running on its side too long

An option you have, if you plan to run a tether for racing only, is to remove the 12 volt assembly and put the tether there with a bigger washer as a backer. That's what we did on an Apex used for grass drags.

I mount it into the center of the handlebar riser and run the wires inside the handlebar riser and down to the rubber boot under the dash panel following the stock wiring.
