Finally put some miles on our 06 Rage this weekend and had a problem with the gauge and headlight. We rode Friday, Sat and Sun. Saturday morning and Sunday morning we had a problem with the gauge and headlight. The sled started fine but the gauge and headlight were dead for about 5 minutes. After the first 5 minutes or so they worked fine all day. We have put a Nytro seat and a 3.5 inch Rox riser with no problems with cable lenghts or Tors. We put the sled in our trailer each night uncovered. Has anybody had a similar experience or know what I should look for?

How cold was it out on those mornings? The RS machines have a circuit in them that will keep the electrical drain to a minimum by not turning on gauge and headlights until warmed up and charging battery.

I had this happen on my Rage last year right after I bought it and asked the same question. You should be fine.

Not sure if I worded this entirely right or not.....so if someone wants to add anything or correct me that's fine.

Thanks Yamaha1, I was hoping it was something like that. It was somewhere between 0 and 10 degree's maybe. I think I'll give my dealer a call too and see if they know about this.

Same thing happened to my Venture GT took awhile for thr headlights to come on...It was pretty cold -29c ..but it started up right away...

yeah, my vector does the same thing, like yamaha1 said, its part of the system so on cold mornings, you dont have alot of draw on the battery. so no need to worry.

Yea if the battery is low it will shut off the headlights and gauges to charge the battery first then they will come on happened to me twice, at 30 below in the morning

Yup, you're fine. My sled did it last weekend for the first time ever, and it was in an enclosed trailer but very cold.

Thanks for the info.. I talked to my dealer and he had never heard of this happening and didn't know anything about the battery saftey deal. Sometimes I'm amazed at what the dealers don't know.

Yes.. thats my summer toy.. its a 74 that I've had for a couple of years. I still have more fun with the sleds.

My friends Vector did the same thing. He called our dealer, and they called Yamaha. Without hesitation, Yamaha said it needs a new load relay. They covered it under warranty. It is like a $13.00 part.

Just my 2 cents worth
