I had the sled that MR Sled has for 220 MI and in my opinion there are some good gain's to be made yet in clutching on that sled. The clutching act's the same way as my 03 RX did stock. When i rode the Apex the WOT shift RPM would pull 9500 out of the hole and gain to 10400 at higher speed's (80-100)MPH you could feel it gradualy pull harder as the rev's would build. I am quite sure that the Apexes that are here now are refered to as preproduction run's and was told the production sled's should perform just the same. If i remember corectly they are hand assembled with production part's. The Vector that i purchased for this year performed identical to the one that i rode in feb 04 so i don't think that they put out a couple ringer's, The throttle response is just unreal, You could feel the difference between fliping the throttle open and stabbing it open at trail speed's, It respond's that quick. If Yamaha could let every on ride these thing's they would not be able to build enough of them. kviper

I think they should have more track options for the Mountain models, Ski Doo went back to a 152"+- for the 1000. I think Yammi should do the same !

What feulie said.........Fix the colar on the riser, fix the back hald of the seat(look at the sleds in the brochure) and please do something about the cheap plastic louvers in the hood. A sled that retails for 10899 should not look cheap on the outside.
and whats up with 165hp.................180 would be sweet with 15mpg.

Silverbullet said:Lets see......a 150hp FI RX-Venture in 136 and 144 tracks for the bagger guys......Make the Vectors FI and add the forward seating position.....Then how about a 165hp FI class Apex to compete with the Mach......AND while they are at it how about stepping up to the plate with some accessories!!! Doo, Cat, and Poo all have far better helmets and clothing.....I own a Doo modular helmet and just bought a Cat helmet....I would have prefered to buy from YANAHA!!!!!
I agree, it would be nice to see a RX/150hp Venture!! They would sell a bunch of them.

althought the Mach Z is fast, it's not unbeatable. Back In the real world, we raced a stock F7 sno-pro (04) with the 1.25" track against a clutched and studded mach z.. the firecat beat it to about 80 mph. It was about 2-3 sled lengths ahead until the mach passed it way down the line. to me the mach ain't that impressive. the throttle lag was enough to make me hate the thing. Its only good on the big end, but like i said, this was 3 races, on one day and the firecat whopped it in the short run.
I would be happy if the apex just kept up to the f7 across the lake.

The Apex might not beat the Mach Z in a drag race, but........the Mach Z that whooped my tail (03 w/filters and stage II clutch) by 7-10 sled lengths over 1/3 of a mile in December also hit 100 mph in 500ft at a local drag two weeks ago so obviously they are not just top end! However, I will add they he also burned down a cylinder at that same drag and I am still running with 6000 miles on my 03 and 2,000 miles on the 05!

Maximum Sled has some interesting articles about the 2006 models:

Yamaha certainly seems to be in good shape for the 2006 season..
And with regards to what's up for the 2007 models:
Turbo perhaps ?

And with regards to what's up for the 2007 models:
In ’03 Ski-Doo raised the bar to a new level, but in ’06 it’s Yamaha that raised the bar. And from what I understand, there’s more to come for ’07.
Turbo perhaps ?

Apparently guys can't express their opinions here anymore, stop the PM's already!
I am not a Doo guy and am only stating what I believe and that is that the MachZ will beat any 06 Yamaha in a race. I didn't say anything about its reliability, quality or durability. Only the fact that a properly setup Machz will simply fly.
Do I hope a stock Yami can beat it?? Hell yes! Do I think it will, no.
Remember guys, many shops were dynoing that beast just under 170HP while Supertuner dynoed most RX-1's in the 130's. Even if Yamaha did get another 10 HP out of the 06 we're still under powered compared to the beast. You do the math :ORC
I too hope I'm wrong about the ringer comment.

I hope there are no changes, I don't need another reason to plunk down about 10K all over again

I still don't understand why on spring order you can't order the shocks you want. My perfect sled would be the Attak with GT rear and front shocks but to do that after the sale would be cost prohibitive. Very simple on spring orders and would really attract those riding competitors sleds.

07 Yama's: First they will fix all the problems we will find in the 06's (like grease jerks on the monoshock, upgrade clutching on the RS, Changeing the TORS on the 3-cylinder 4 stroke etc). Next they will offer FI for the RS engine.
and lastly they will surprise us with a new product/technology that very few of us will have envisioned.
