I took my Vector out today for a short jaunt - running on some hard pack snow, still getting used to her...All that i had access to at the time snow wise..

Anyways, after riding for about 15-20 minutes I had the tempature warning light came on, so I shut it off and let it cool down, this happened several times to me throughout the day - Usually not while running, but when I came to a complete stop for even a moment, was probably 37F outside, also I had the machine backfire once on me, and shut off another time....

Ideas? Normal?

When they get to a certain temp, they shut themselves off. You might have a bubble in your line or something. Also, most dealers dont mix their coolant and it is straight anitfreeze which is wrong, mix it 50/50 and it will keep your sled temps down. Im not sure if the vectors have the fans like the ape's do but if they do watch and see if it is coming on. Other than that, i dont know.

check your coolant. I have never had my vector overheat even in poor snow cond.

I have had the overheat light on when im not getting any snow on the hifaxes or getting any snow picked up by the track to throw on the cooler

I took it out today in better snow conditions - Different area - and I didnt have a single problem - ran like a champ!

I think it was because I was riding on hardpack and it was like 40F out and no snow was getting kicked up...

I rode on quite a bit of hardpack this winter. Usually not to long and I tried to dive off quite a bit to cool things off. Went through a set of hyfax in about 500 miles but never had a cooling issue. One thing I wish the Vector had was a coolant temp indicator, besides the light. I would consider purchasing a set of scratchers just to save on the hyfax and will help cooling considerably if you ride quite a bit of hardpack.

I have heard of guys on polaris 2 strokes that will drop a full 50 degrees F when they put down their scratchers when on hardpack.
