i put 7000 miles on my sxr 500 and never really said i wish it was faster.
this past weekend i broke off all my motor mounts and exhaust so im in the market to get a new sled this week to ride out the season. i can snowmobile right from my driveway leading to lots of state ditch trails that also lead through the woods. would i regret not getting the bigger fourstroke? i bought a raptor 350 last summer and have regretted not getting the 700 so im worried about that. other thing is the coldness of riding the rider forward style which i have never done b4. im 27 and got a total knee replacement in 08 from a motorcycle accident so i cant ride as hard as i usta but i can still hang with the rest of em most often. i enjoy sitting and riding but also appreciate to stand and bang out the ditches racing cars. any advise?? found a few 07 phazers for 4k found a beautiful 06 apex rtx for 5k and a few 08 nytros for 6500. obviously the cheeper the better but i wanna be happy with it.

The phaz is a fun sled but if I had knee trouble I wouldn't puul the trigger on a phazer until I rode one very nimble but I have to be all over it to get the most out of it. Very agressive riding style sled.

I have owned a 2006 Attak (Apex long track), 2009 Nytro, and a 2007 Phazer. To say the least the Attak is a great cruiser for long winding trails. Short twisty's you will feel the weight. Great sled with lots of power. Great trail sled for U.P trips. Good storage options. The nytro is lighter and not as fast top end. More of a ditch banger and don't feel the weight as much as the Apex. More rider forward. Storage options are little. The phazer is a lot lighter and very rider forward like a dirt bike. 0-60 excellent torque and power. 70-80 it takes a while. I think your best bet is a Nytro. That is somewhere in the middle, not too heavy and enough power to satisfy. I think if you go Apex it may feel too heavy or the phazer may not have enough top end. Just my opinion and personal experience. I loved all three sleds in just different ways. They are all great sleds, but each one has its pluses and minuses.

Phazer is VERY comparable to an SX500R power wise. Torqued 80hp 4stroke vs. mediocre 88hp 2 stroke. The Phazer is DEFINITELY faster 0-70 than the SX500R, but the SX500R might edge one out on topend. I personally came off an SX600R an bought a Phazer since I was getting smoked in the 0-60 range by one. Even though my SX600R and Phazer MTX "weigh" the same on paper the Phazer FEELS a good 200# lighter when I ride it. With a Medium or Tall windshield installed the Phazer seems about the same for wind protection and I felt comfortable down to -15*f on both sleds. Nytro is a awesome too but to me just didn't feel as fun to ride since I don't spend much time above 60mph. I had really though about a Nytro XTX but a left over was 8800$ and I got my leftover phazer for 5700$, 3100$ buys lots of mods! For 5k though I would take a GOOD look at that Apex RTX.

thanks all, thats kinda what im thinking too, the apex i found is beautiful along with the phazer. its just a matter of if ill like the rider forward of the phazer. im going to test one at the dealership pretending im gonna buy one tomorrow. ive decided that i cant justify spending over 5k on anything so that kinda rules out the nytro. i would have liked to find somthing other than the 121" track but i guess thats what im usta. the windshields are kinda dorky lookn on the phazer but probably is a must. do u think that apex being so much heavier would really suck for riding ditches or do u think it would be a few steps up from my sxr 500. btw i have a hawk stage 2 clutch. the thing rips i love it but the suspension kinda blows.

i wouldn't give him anymore than 4k for that phazer. if you look hard enough you can find newer ones around the same price.

if you can get that apex for 5k thats good. 1 owner with barely any miles on it. may be a bit on heavy side but you have HP.
i'd give a shout to the apex guys & see their thoughts on what to look for on that year sled.
