I bought the sled as non current in 2008 so this is my second summer storing the sled. Last winter my dealer told me that I should add a bottle of fuel conditioner fill the tank to the top with premium fuel then run the machine for about 5 -10 minutes and put it away for the summer with a battery tender on it.

Well that was crap because this Winter I had to pay them to clean and sync the carbs as it ran like garbage at the begining of the season.

Can someone provide me with the best way to store this machine over the summer so that I hopefully do not have the same issue at the begining of next season?

ive had 8 new sleds over 15 years, ive always started my sled every month over the summer and ive never had 1 issue, not once,i know what people are going to say that it creates condensation and this and that, but this is what works for me,you start it up and let it idle for 10 min ten shut it off till the next month, plus,on the carb models, when you dont start them for a long period, they are hard to start cuz the fuel takes for ever to get to the carbs, there is a way to do it so its easier to start that was posted on here, something about disconnecting a line from the pump and blowing air into it but im not exactly sure how its done, plus,i cant stand being 6-7 months without hearing the roar of a sled,my 2 cent

Put 2 fuel shut-off valves on both of the fuel lines. Shut down both lines and run the fuel out of the carbs when you get ready to store your sled for long periods. I added shut-off valves on my RS Venture and it has always run like new. My brother never installed the valves on his Vector and it runs terrible. Just remember to turn the shut-off valves back on when you get ready to start it up again.

I do the same. However I did run into gumed up carbs even doing this. It keeps the batteries charged and the floats moving a bit. I do it every 4-6 weeks starting from the time I put it away. If I don't do this to the wifes GT it is very hard to start the first time. Do it and it turn right over first time evry time.

For my first summer storage last year I dumped some Stabil in the gas tank and let it run for 20 plus min. I then drained the the fuel out of each carb and then used a battery tender. Come last fall I blew air into the fuel tank vent hose and it started rigth up. No issues. I plan to put it away the same this year. G.B.

Pat the Rat has the best solution to keeping everything running until the next season. I start my 05 Vector each and every month and run it for 15 minutes. I used to do this on my several Polaris sleds, in the past, and it works very well. I still use Sta-bul in the fuel though.

I have a 2006 Vector, I installed two fuel shut offs and run it until it stalls and then drain the carbs because their is still quite a bit of gas in them. Come winter I turn the gas on and blow air into the gas vent and it started and ran great. Now my other issue is that tensioner that I am not sure what I am going to do with.

I am in the same situation with a 2006 Vector that has 4200 miles on it. The plan is to strip down the sled (remove skid, seat, fuel tank) to the point that I can inspect exhaust donuts. Then will determine at that time if I proceed further to replace tensioner. At least I can do this in the off season and not have to worry about it next riding season.

I am not sure what to do. I bought this used with 3500 miles on it. I already replaced all the wheels when I first got it, also the oil tank had a crack and the clutch needed to be rebuilt. I now have 8000 miles and the motor seems noisy possibly from tensioner or exhaust donuts and clutch is noisy again. I had a polaris with 8000 miles on it and never touched it so maybe back to polaris again. Mike

i put seafoam in the last tank
run it for the last ride
drain the tank
and try to run it dry
there is a drain screw on the bottom of each carb
new gas in the fall
i can't wait to break the new engine in ;)!

I put Sea foam in the tank and run it for a while ..I leave a bit of gas in the tank ...The big thing is to get the gas out of the Carbs. I just drain the carbs put a battery tender on it..At the beggining of the season fill it up with fresh gas and go..First year I had problems starting it, this past winter after draining the carbs. I had no problems at all...

I've own my Rage since it was brand new in 05, and done nothing except drain the fuel from my tank with a siphon, and re-add fresh fuel with some stabilizer in the tank. My gas can is only 2 1/2 gallons, so mixing up stabilizer seems to be perfect. This way I'm not putting a bunch of fuel in the tank, but it's enough to get her running to get that stabilizer in the carbs. Like others, I periodically start it through the summer, and toward the fall once it gets colder I put another 2 1/2 gallons plus stabilizer into the tank, run it, and then change the plugs so she's ready for winter. Oh..almost forgot...Battery Tender Jr. installed also. It hasn't failed me yet....and still runs like a champ.
