I currently have a 98 vmax 700 and would like to know how the vector compares powerwise and in the handling department???????

The vector will take a a vmax 700 with clutching it's not even a comparison.

The 1998 vmax was a decent handling sled, it just didn't have any suspension. The vector is alot more top heavy. the vmax sat very low to the ground the vector sits alot higher. The motor in the vector is much smoother and is just as fast. The suspension on the vector is much better but it still rides like a yamaha. I don't know about the mono suspension on a 06, i have not rode that yet. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info guy's. My vmax xtc deluxe has the long travel suspension but I would suspect the vector to have a better ride. I am trying to decide between the vector er/gt or the apex er. I just don't think they with handle as well in the tight and twisties as my vmax.

Rode a 98 VMAX 700 deluxe for 20 years and put 18,000 miles on it. Loved that sled!
Got a 2006 rs Rage and like it even better... just different. Fuel milage is so much better and it's such smooth power. You just corner different with a 4 stroke and let the engine do the braking for you. Just got a 2008 Vector GT. Looking forward to seeing how that rides!

I did put a higher seat on the Rage and that made it much more comfortable. Vector has higher seat stock, so should be good.
