At first I couldn't figure out why after a few little rides and my ventures plugs would blacken and the sled would not start! I thought it was the carbs and cleaned them then I thought the jets might be set wrong, and adjusted them but nothing seems to stop it from happening!Today I put a new set of plugs in the machine and as usually it started up. This time I noticed a bit of darker gray smoke for the first couple of seconds but nothing serious and then the normal smoke when starting a cold sled on a cold day! After warm up I took off and headed to the lake to cross it and go to my friends place for a quick chat! On the way the sled ran as expected perfect fast and smooth! So here I am at my friends place and we are outside talking when I hear what sounds like someone peeing in the snow! I look over and there is a stream of oil coming off the bottom of my sled while sitting parked and off! I could not locate a source for the oil leak even with the panels removed. For whatever reason I took the air box cover off and to my surprise it was soaked with oil, and of course the oil was going right down into the carbs... Think I know why my plugs are looking like it was burning rich now!

So whats going on here? Why the heck is oil coming into the breather box through the tube? I also noticed that the oil seems very runny and gas smelling even though it is fairly new oil and has not been running in the machine very much!

The oil puking up into the airbox is caused by the hose freezing up(one located at the oil/water seperator near the oil tank).Same thing happen to my brothers 06 nytro 5 years ago.I started up after sitting in the garage all night and only went for a little spin. When i got back it puked oil all over the ground(just about S**t myself). It only happen once(got to let the sled warm up really good, heat melts the blockage).

Really, I don't know about that but I'll check it out! Didn't seem to do it nearly as much when I parked it at home after the ride so maybe! The first puddle at my buddies which is less then 10 minutes from the start of the ride was huge. The one in my driveway after coming home was only a little bit! But if that's the case then I wonder why my plugs keep going black after a few little rides because it's never leaked oil like that before!
