What is the general consensus between the two front ends? Did the '09 front end make a noticeable difference and improvement? I've been told different things from "It is an improvement" to "For the amount it costs to convert to '09, it isn't worth the money".

The magazines seem to say the same things about twitchy handling on the 09's that they did with the '08. The actual geometry changes between the two front ends is pretty small. There are other components like deeper keel skis and stiffer sway bar that also went into the '09 front end.

Anybody going to convert? Anybody convert and have second thoughts?

I just purchased the front end kit from Zbroz racing. They claim it changes the geometry. It will be here in a few days so i dont have any input on it yet. but its supposed to be a better ride and stronger.

Thanks for the info. I just checked out their website. They mention MTX so is it supposed to be for mountain sleds?

That was the confusion. I have a 08 FX nytro, and there was a bit of misunderstanding and he sent me the MTX kit which is only 40 inches wide...The "wide" kit they sell is 43 which he told me is right for my sled. It will be here wednesday and hopefully i will have time to throw it on quick. Kit is rather expensive but its all nice chromoly tubing, comes with ball joints and spindles. I call a dealer and they wanted 1400 for just arms and spindles, i almost #*$&@ myself, so i figured i would get this complete kit and see what happens.

Yes, the stock '09 front end is super expensive! Did they say if the Zbros kit can be used for racing and ditch banging?

I told him im a very very aggressive trail rider and I need something stronger than stock. He told me their front end is much stronger. Im not sure what yamaha uses for there material, i would assume prob just a normal alloy steel, and Zbroz is Chromoly which is definately stronger.

You had to get the new shocks with the 43" stance also, right? I spoke with them, and they said I would have to buy the hole kit, with the shocks for the 43", but not with the 40". That is why I was looking at the new wide Timbersled 42". Not as strong from what I hear, but I don't need to drop more coin for shocks. Plus only around $900.00, and they have a new trail spindle for the flatlanders. Whish West coast made a wide set. Their spindles look real beefy, and the price is right.

If your buying the kit for a FX nytro or RTX, (short track), you need the 43in wide kit but can use stock shocks. Only time you will need new shocks is if you have MTX because the stance on that is narrower (40). I was looking at timbersled kit before too but it did not look very strong so i stayed away from it.

They must of thought I was talking about a long track then. I will have to give them a call and verify. SInce they were the ones I liked from the begining. Timber was my next choice since they looked like the only one that kept the stock shock. Suprised certain items are hard to come by with this sled. Wide arms, and seats seem to be the hardest thing to find. Finally they are slowly coming out with more

Yea, they thought i was too, because they sent me on kit, i put it on and my skis were pointing at each other, so i had to call them and have them resend me the wider one, supposed to be here tomorrow.

Yea i was looking for seats too, i went with the mountain assault seat with 2" rise.

The kit comes with just 4 a-arms, two spindles, ball joints, nuts, and bolts for bottom of shock. I assume your talking about sway bar, it still fits with this kit, they have the mounting point on bottom of lower arm still.
