Mine comes on right around 200deg I'm my temp gauge. I don't know where the sensor is for the fan but I put my temp gauge sensor in the hose that runs in front of the tank.

Is your over temperature light coming on?
If it is install the optional tunnel cooler.
If not just drive it.

Typically they come on from 200-210 in most applications that I've worked with. Not 100% sure on the nytro but would expect it to be the same.
The fan is pretty quiet so it maybe coming on and you don't know it. You can hear it though if you listen for it.

I have owned mine for 4 seasons have NEVER heard the fan run. Went to Idaho last week and it was warm and didn't have scratchers down on the trail and I noticed my fan was on when I stopped, that was the first/ only time I ever heard it

I can't speak for the street bike but the nytro's cooling system isn't big enough for the sled. This summer I added the MountainTech tunnel cooler that was just a hair shy of doubleing the amount of coolant. I had it running one day on the stand it was 92deg out side and I put a small blower fan infront of the headlight blowing at the rad and the temp never got over 192 in the 20 min I had it running. On the snow I haven't seen 180 yet, stays right around the 160 to 174 range.

No offense to anyone but personally I think the sled was likely tuned at a operating temp of 190F just like a car. Your actually going to make the most power at that temp too, or even a smidge hotter.
IMO keeping the motor cooler is just going to make it run richer and actually cost you a few ponies and gas mileage (unless your tuned for it).
As long as your not seeing the light (which is 220 i think), then who really cares? Engines can run all day long at 200 or even 210F. 230+ I would say is the danger range for headgaskets etc.
Just my 0.02c, take it for whats it worth but I have tuned my fair share of fuel injected cars and colder engine isn't necessarily better - especially in a snowmobile application where IAT is always cold. And the IAT sensor is what pulls the most timing, not ECT temps. I haven't seen the Nytro map, but I doubt the ECT compensation table pulls any timing before 210F. Maybe someone can chime in!
I just don't understand why people like to be in the 160-170 range all day long. Let her run hot, just not too hot!

Your right. It does feel to run better when in the hotter range but I was seeing the light every day all day. I just got tired of riding and looking at the cluster all day, it took the fun meter way down. The cost of a few ponies was worth watching where I was going and not watching for the light.

Ya for sure if your on the light all the time, then something has to be done. Its weird, I see all these threads about the light, but I personally have never seen it on my xtx and I have ridden in some pretty low snow conditions....maybe its broken haha.

My 08's had fans go out on them. Just replaced them and was good to go. Two years ago the dealer by me got about five in with fans that died FYI

I've never seen my light either. Would like to have a temp gauge on it but haven't gotten around to it. Maybe this summer
