HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED AN IGNITION CUT ON AND OFF ON THEIR NYTROS. I EXPERIENCED THAT THIS WEEKEND.. MACHINE STARTED CUTTING IN AN OUT (IGNITION, LIGHTING, ETC) AS IF THE KEY WERE BEING TURNED ON AND OFF DURING RIDE. THIS WAS ABOUT AN HOUR INTO THE RIDE, SO MACHINE WAS HOT.. THE NEXT DAY, IT RAN GREAT FOR THE FIRST HOUR AGAIN.. BUT, THE CUT OUT/IN STARTED AGAIN. THIS TIME IT GOT WORST AND ACTUALLY STALLED THE MACHINE AND IT WOULDNT RE-START.. THOUGHT MY DAY WAS DONE, BUT, IT DID EVENTUALLY RESTART, AND I LIMPED IT HOME ON 8 MILES OF ROAD.. IF ANYONE HAS EXPERIENCED THIS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU FOUND, IF ANYTHING YET. THANKS. NO ERROR CODE SHOWED ON DASH.

Ignition

I did have a problem with my ignition and when I pulled the plastic off of the passenger side and seen that I has a ton of ice and snow on the relay (located just infront of the battery). I removed all of the ice and snow with compressed air and placed electrical grease on the relay as well as the two fuses that are located on either side of the relay. I haven't had a problem since. Hope this helps.

Yeah, that relay is a trouble maker for sure. It's right in front of the oil tank. If the white plastic plug is disconnected or has bad contact because of the MASSIVE amount of corrosion that builds up on it, the fuel pump will not even spool up when you turn the key. I'm not sure why. It's the starter relay, and shouldn't have anything to do with the fuel pump. But if I remember right, there are 4 wires on the white plug, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I had to jump the big terminals with pliers, so I disconnected the plug out of fear of damaging the ECU. The ECU can definitely tell when you completely diconnect that relay, because it will give you an error when the ignition is on. But if it has partial contact in the right places, the ECU might not give a code.

This is why my next sled is gonna be carbureted...
