Local dealer has a few new leftovers going at decent prices 08's - 11's...particularly interested in 40th due to the color scheme....any pointers other than the track / front end issues before I take the plunge?

I would get a 2010 due to the corrected approach angle.
The 08 will require new track, new rear suspension, shocks up front as well

thanks for the info akvector....track / suspension would be taken care of....I have a complete mtn tamer skid sitting on the shelf and a Camoplast extreme track. Front end is my biggest worry...any one out there running a barkbuster front end with good results?

If they have been sitting for a while, ask your dealer to swap the plastics. It can't hurt to ask.

If you are going to spend the money on a whole new front end I would get one that changes the geometery like the skinz. Other than that get floats and run the stock stuff

Would you be interested in selling the maverick track?

X2, would not waste the money on a barkbuster, get the Skinz (if you can) and dont look back.

I too like the 40th anni color scheme but i would go with the 11. Something that has not been mentioned about the '08 MTX in this post is the fact that the "08 MTX doesnt have a reinforced front sub-frame. Not that the the newer reinforced sub-frames is any stronger. If you still hit something the wrong way they still bend pretty easy. It is just a weak design. It is not a big deal with these sleds but it is something worth mentioning if you are trying to decide between the two years. I have an '08 that has all the typical mods to make it work better and like the sled. The TS Bark buster front end is still a good choice for weight savings and i have not had any problems with mine on my sled
However the word on the street is that the Skinz front does help change the fromt geometry for the better. It will be interesting to read some real world reviews when they start popping up in this forum this season. I am sure you will be happy with what ever you end up with.

Tks for the feedback folks. Greatly appreciated....I will be doing some mods if I do indeed buy the sled so keep an eye out on the classifieds....or PM me. The RS rage with the BENDER turbo has served me well but it is time to upgrade...I have thought long and hard about the new Cats but I am a diehard Yamaha guy when it comes to sleds.....reliability with upgrade potential bar none.
Hummmmm......Santa has a turbo lined up for the Nytro!....don't tell the wife....LOL....

To the subframe issue I have an 08 still the original subframe never bent. You can not dead head your ski on the something. I am a boondocker and I like to ride in the trees and run over several just pick the right ones!!!
