Hello all,
My 08 Nytro is not starting after off season storage. Just put new battery in, new plugs, it is getting fuel, and spark. I took out plugs and it seems to have compression based on covering plug hole.
Fuel pump is running with key on and I have no trouble codes. All fuses are fine and I have the red fuel pump relay already.
One thing I did note was the engine sounds a little off while cranking. Meaning, it sounds like it's pushing a lot of air into the airbox. I've had many Yamaha 4 strokes and this is a first. Anything else I can check or missed?
Thanks

I forgot to mention that it would not fire on starting fluid in airbox. Checked for spark at coil and it zapped me so I assume there is spark. Stuck valve??Hello all,

I would definitely do a proper compression test and based on that, a leakdown test. Maybe your timing chain jumped.

Exact thing happened with my friends Phazer..... low compression. I put oil in the cylinders. Compression went way up. Put the plugs in and it fired right up... smoked like crazy. Once the oil was burnt off it died.
