Hey folks!
Well after a year on an RX-1-ton then back to a 2-stroke I just picked up a Nytro today so I think I'm swinging back to the 4-bangers. Still holding my 09' Dragon just in case this is a bust but I'm really hoping for the best and keeping my chin up.
I got the sled home and cleaned it up, started pulling panels and poking around. It has 2500 miles on it and it was a one owner "wifes sled" the pink stickers prove it :-/ Anyway to the point..
I laid the side panels down on the ground and about an hour later I noticed a puddle of oil under the panel that covers the belt / clutch side of the sled. I picked it up and sure enough the foam at the bottom is soaked with oil. I felt around under the clutch(s) and the belly pan is bone dry?? I've been shining a flashlight around but can't seem to locate the source of the leak.
I also noticed that where the plasic covers the primary it's chewed up a little (the plastic not the clutch) Maybe it got pushed in while the sled was running?? All the panels are in good shape and the sled is very straight and clean.
Anyway, I can take some pics if needed. Thanks

Does the sled have a rollover valve on it already? I not it is likely that it could have gotten rolled over at die point and the oil leaked. If it stays on its side long enough it will dump oil out of the tank and it seems to go all over if it does.
If you are not sure what to look for first check and see if you have a tether. If not you don't have one. If the tether is there check your oil tank next. The valve is in the breather hose that comes out of the top of the tank and runs up to the air box.
If you don't have one call the guys at OFT and get one before you ride. They are a must have. Get a steering relocator while you are at it. Two fairly cheap items that really are needed.
Good luck with the sled! They are a good ride.

SledWrecker,
There is a crank seal behind the primary clutch, however it is extremely rare for one to leak (haven't seen one leak yet). Most common is for the oil to leak during a rollover as hugger70mtmax suggested. If the sled was tipped on it's left side, oil can leak into the air box, then while the sled is still on it's side oil seeps past the air box halves and leaks on to the clutch cover/foam.
A sure fire way to tell if this was the case, is to pull the air box filter foam out and see if its soaked with oil. If its oil soaked then at some point its very likely that the sled has been on its side.
Another common sign of a roll over oil leak is to see oil on the right front side of the engine. Often times it will look like the oil pan to crankcase sealing surface is leaking. The air box has drain holes in the bottom of it and when the oil drains out of these holes often times it will get blown back onto the engine, making it appear as if it has an oil leak.
If the engine was still running while it was laying on its side, the positive air flow out of the breather hose will actually pump the oil out at a faster rate. This could also explain the wear marks in the side cover from the clutch as well.

Two things you need right off the bat for an '08 nytro.
1. roll over valve and tether
2. OFT steering Relocator
The 08 Nytro's take some time to get set up so don’t get discouraged too quickly. If it has the OEM track I would start saving for a new one. It’s a whole different sled with a new track.
I would definitely oprn the air box to see if the little foam air filter is soaked in oil. I am guessing it will be. The oil goes everywhere when the sled is tipped up after being on its side without a roll over valve. My side cover has the same marks you describe and isn’t a problem.
Since the sled is new to you and you found some oil under the hood so to speak I would also take off the stock skid plate under the engine to check the oil filter just to be on the safe side. There have been cases where the skid plate has been pushed up against the oil filter which can wear a hole in the oil filter with dyer results obviously because you usually don't notice it until its too late.
