I just bought an 08 nytro brand new I loved it for the first 550 miles now its been to the dealler. it started out when i would get on the throttle on acceleration it felt like a 2 stroke with a fouled plug . then it would pull out of it on top end. tryed some dry gas didnt help took it to the dealler they said they found water in my gas draind and refilled. Brought it home and after riding it for 15 minutes with no problem started doing it again.BACK TO DEALLER. now they say clutch spring faillure ? getting hot .But when i thought it was a water issue i let it run and set for a half hour clutch was cold . it wouldnt come out of its stupid stage when i rode it pulled plugs they looked fine thought for sure 1 would be fouled or wet. I was a very loyal skidoo rider before i got this thing now i just want to ride. Any help out there
nytro rtx

Do you have an aftermarket exhaust on it?

Did the dealer replace the Clutch spring, or just mention it as a posibility? If they havent, it would be a cheap place to start.

They checked the secondary and said it was alright. They said they had to order me a new front clutch because there is some bad wear grooves on the sheives. I dont understand that 600 miles and it needs a clutch already? Im sure that wont fix it though because one of the times it was running bad i held it wide open up to around 60 twice and it never cleared out.

It sounds to me like you put in some bad gas and did not get it all out. Once you contaminate the fuel, the entire system has to be cleaned out. Also, the injectors or carbs need cleaning. This is not done by just dumping in a can of cleaner. You may have to remove the fuel tank, clean it out and purge all the lines. Then, you can clean the injectors/carbs.
One has to be extremely cautious about handling fuel. I never use a metal can and my plastic containers are rinsed frequently.

The dealler drained the systm and refilled with fuel and drygas. and it still does the same thing. There thinking now its the computer getting hot and messing up ill let you know when i know kind of frustrating.Im not ready to go back to the rev yet. Im going to give the dealler a couple of more days before i go pick it up and start swapping parts with my buddies sled. Then they can warranty the part. Hard to diagnoise when its so intermittent. But it always messes up within 15 minutes.

I would bet your problem is just your TORS (throttle override system). Have them adjust your throttle cable...can't believe they haven't checked that yet.

Stay with the dealer. If they screw up something swapping out parts, that's their problem. You start swapping parts and breaking things and now it becomes yours. They also have a "hot line" to Yamaha. What dealer are you with?
You may suggest to them to recheck the TORS. The adjustment is done by a Throttle Cable adjustment to allow a bit more play in the flipper. It is explained very well in the Owner's Manual. Did you check that?
Please put your location in your personal information and put the Sled model and year in your signature. That way, as we build on this thread, we can see what model we are dealing with. Maybe we have someone close that can stop by and look at things. ??
Never heard of one of the newer CDI Units getting hot and messing up. That is a new one on me. Especially in 15 minutes. But it is possible. That used to happen a lot on the old Phasers in 1984-1985, after hours of running.
I am wondering a bit here. How did we get from Bad Fuel, to Bad Clutch Spring, to Bad Clutch Sheaves, to bad CDI unit?
How did the bad fuel get in there? What happened with the Bad Clutch Spring and Sheaves?

The latest is it was messing up bad at the dealler and set a cylinder missfire code the swapped holes to see if the problem fowled the coil pack . Yamaha recomended to check every connector so they did that at the same time.they put around 40 miles on it no problems . I picked it up last night and rode it for around 20 miles no problem yet. taking it up north this weekend suppose to be cold again hopfully its ok .

FINALLY FOUND THE PROBLEM.
After riding it for around 80 miles it started messing up real bad setting cylinder 2 missfire . Called townline powersports in clio Mi where i bought it and the told me how to check codes . after having them swap coils 1 and 2 never set code for 80 miles same problem on same cylinder so diagnostics says open or shorted harness . So we pulled the panels and coulg get it to run right by playing with the harness. On the left frame rail behind the primary clutch there is a casting tit sticking in to my wiring harness shorting out cylinder 2 FINALLY FIXED RUNS GREAT AGAIN THANKS TO TOWNLINES TRAIL SIDE PHONE SERVICE THEY TALKED US THROUG IT if you own 1 of these sleds i would recomend checking your frame for the casting tit that should have been removed. As many wires in that bundle could cause several intermittent problems.

SORRY the tit that did the damage is on top of the front left motor mount not the frame.
