In an effort to quiet track noise without major sugery, someone suggested installing rubber idler wheels instead of the stock plastic wheels. The stock wheels are 130mm, would going to a 135mm wheel make a difference, and if so which ones? Or would just using the yamaha accessory wheels make a difference? Any input would be appreciated.
I put on Yamaha accessory wheels, didn't seem to make a big diffrence to me.
That is the rubberized type that will quiet the noise some, not the size. In fact, going over 130 should get the noise to show up earlier. After a fresh set of hyfax the noise will be minimum for your setup.. as they wear & the support ratio over the idlers increase, so is the noise and so is the devrease of hyfax wearing. I have 10 130 mm rubber idler wheels on my machine & after 4000 miles(snow condition dependant) the sliders are due for a change.....to quiet things down. I assume bigger diameter will ask for an earlier swap.

One of the real concerns that I had before I purchased my Venture was track noise but after a couple of thousand kms I don't find it to be an issue at all.
Same here no problems with track Howl ...

Does the noise seem to get less as the sled gets more miles on it? I have about 500 miles now and it seems really bad.

Another dumb question(I am very new at this). Would riding on very hard surfaces like ice or roads cause the track to make more noise?

yes hard trails are louder .If you get into powder you hardly hear it .I thought the open clip holes would make a diference but it didn't .
