At the beginning of the season I had to adjust my idle up a bit cause it seemed to low (around 1000) As most of you know the idle adjustment is finicky....anyway after some messing around I seem to have it right around the 1500 range. however do you guys notice that after you have been riding for awhile and come to a stop the idle hovers around 2200 ish for a minute or two then it will drop to normal idle? is this something to worry about or is it normal. I had a buddy with the same year sled and his did the same.

It's because they are jetted very lean to meet "emissions" standards.
It's hanging/racing because it's starving for fuel. Not really a problem, just annoying. The real cure is to up the pilot jets one size.
I did this when I had my '06 RS Nytro.

cat man is right put a 50 pilot in it and make sure carbs are clean , it will take longer to warm up when cold to idle right .

thanks. at first start up as soon as it come up to temp it drops the idle right where it should be. but when riding and come to a stop that's when it sticks at higher idle for a minute? Could this also be a sigh of dirty or plugged carbs? I have never cleaned them only 2500 miles on sled but I run carbon clean/fuel treatment through at beginning of season and once in awhile after that. sled runs great - speed and rims right where they should be. This might sound like a dumb ? but what is the biggest symptom of dirty carbs, besides not starting or idling?

Adjust your idle when sled is warm! Aim for the highest idle you can get without rpms hanging like you mention! Usually just around 1350 is the sweet spot. It still may hang up but only for a second or 2!

If it runs great and starts fine, they are not dirty.
I repeat.... jet the pilots up. IT'S LEAN!!
As jsjk-4-stroke said, 50's. I couldn't remember what I put in, it's been 5 years ago, but once he said 50's it jarred my peabrain loose & it was 50's I went to also.

Have you ever synced your carbs and do you run Sea-Foam through it throughout the season?
My I purchased mine used, it would do the same thing and sometimes not come down at all, especially if just testing/running it in the driveway.
The only way I could ever get it to idle normally was to hit the throttle repeatedly and sometimes I had to shut it down and restart it, where it would idle normally.
Since I have been using Sea-Foam periodically, it hasn't done it since.

I had the same issue with my 08, fooled with it one day and now it idles perfect.
