I have a blue '09 MTX and am wondering about swaping the front end for a wider one. My wife is a relatively new rider and I think the wider front end may be more stable. Thoughts or willing parties? The sled only has 500 miles and the front end is CLEAN.

did you move the skis all the way out yet? Putting both spacers to the outside gives you ~41" ski stance and makes quite a difference. Mine came with both spacers to the inside from the factory which is only a 37" stance. I too am working on a wide front for mine and am still looking for left side arms. Wide front will allow a stance from 40-44"

moving the spacers give you a max of 39.6. Still 3 inches shy of the other a-arms. With as tippy as this machine is, 3 inches will help a lot.

I actually measured on mine, carbide to carbide. The 39.6 is the middle position. Yamaha doesn't recommend the position with both spacers to the outside which is ~41. So you can get within 1.5" of the short track stance. I'll measure the difference between he MTX and the FX arms when I get home from work so we know for sure how much difference there is.

on the 09 MTX with both spacers to the side (with is ok by Yamaha on this model), you get 39.6

Are you saying that after 500 miles, your subframe isn't bent? ....congratulations, that's great to hear.
One thing you could try before "widening the stance" is to relocate the swaybar mount to the forward hole on the lower A arms. It reduces body roll and inside ski lift making it feel a lot more stable, especially in the turns.
