I just bought my first Yamaha, a 09 nytro xtx with 3400 miles on it. I sled in Muskoka Ontario.
I have read about the yamaheaters, and am going to order them, as I rode it for the first time this past weekend and the warmers are pathetic.
BUT, it seems the thumb warmer doesn't work at all. Is there a fuse I cannot find, an element to replace.... Totally lost.
Any help for what to look for, or what to replace
Thanks

If you have an Ohm meter you can check the resistance of the heating element. You'll need to track the electrical leads from the thumb throttle back to its connection under the hood. It should be in a rubber boot on the left side (clutch side) under the headlight assembly. Unplug the connection and measure the resistance across the two lines going back to the throttle. You'll want to see about 35 Ohms on the meter. If you're good here the next stop is the fuse bank.

Ok thank you, I will check that. Also I have looked hi and low for the fuse bank, and I could only find two fuses on the right side. I would have thought there were more..... Or I am blind.
I have been trying to locate a manual...
Thanks again.

There are fuses on the right side just above the brake caliper and other above the oil tank. I don't believe there are specific fuses for the grip or thumb warmers because they are controlled through the ECU.
If you go to the Yamaha web site and sign on to the "My Yamaha" section you should be able to download a copy of the owner's manual. Or, send me and email address via the PM feature and I'll forward a copy of the '08 manual.
