I know this site is full of clutching posts, but i'm trying to make my own clutch kit for the first time. I've always bought one in the past. I'm definitely going wtih the 14.5 rollers, but i'm not sure if i should go with a primary spring also or not? Helix too? I've read alot of posts but they all seem to be for xtx's and bigger riders. I go about 5'10" and 180 pounds ready to ride. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Still waitin for snow, might as well wrench!!

14.5mm is a good start, may want to go with slightly stiffer preload on primary spring to raise engagement with the smaller rollers. From personal experience I would stay with stock helix or use a straight 45.

Foxhead, I am one of the bigger XTX riders but I think I can help. What I would suggest is the rollers, a Pink-Yellow-Pink spring, and a 47 degree helix (Yamaha part number 8BV-17604-71). The rollers and spring will get all the tourque out of the big four stroke and you will be able to get to the gas pump without spinning the crap out of the track. With you being a lighter guy the steeper helix will simply let the sled upshift faster, it won't backshift as fast but I don't think it will need to. Just my two cents...

My biggest goal with this experiment is to lower my engagement. Anything else would be a bonus. I was checking pricing for the rollers and holy crap those f#@ckers are expensive. Cheaper to buy online than through my local dealer, and a week to get to me. For the price, I'm thinking i might as well call up Schmidt Bros. and order their "comfort kit". Thanks for the 2 cents badsled and schlick55!
