i just picked up a 09 fx rtx(my first 4 stroke). sled has 1k miles but the front end is trashed. it needs skis, rh arms and spindles.
I'm ordering oilites and used arms.
sled also has 1.75x121 bc track.
here's the questions;
ski and spindle combo?
will slp spindles hurt trail handling at all? and will they reduce darting enough to run a single keel wide ski such as mtx to compliment the track off trail?
i ride aggressively on beat up moguled garbage cny trails, and sometimes on tug hill, but my "local" trails are fresh fields. I'm trying to put a ski/spindle combo together to work well in both conditions with the bc track.
my gut says Mohawks and slp spindles?
i hate darting and heavy steering, a LITTLE push is acceptable.
thanks in advance

I have a buddy that runs the slp spindles and is happy with them.
If i remember correctly, If you compare them to stock, they are a little shorter overall and have holes drilled in different locations to improve the handeling.
They are machined from 1 billet piece of aluminum, and in my opinion appear to be very high quality for the price

thanks. they do look nice.
i like the tie rod location but being 1 3/8 shorter seems like a lot. i keep imagining t-rex arms! lol too short for the skis to touch the ground with proper force. maybe with less pressure i could run c&a skis with their extreme grip and not get tired 10 miles in.

I'd stick with stock spindles and if replacing a-arms I'd go with Hygear's Slicast upper a-arms for the added adjustment. Curve skis work well on and off trail with little to no darting or push. It's hard to beat the Curves on a Nytro.

hey grizz, i see on another post you are running mountain techs 43+2 kit. I'd love to get your thoughts on them, they look super adjustable. im having a hard time locating used arms and spindles, and then I'll have to sandblast and powdercoat to match, so mtech are definitely an option. with castor adjustments, can you tip the spindle back and move the tie rod joint in the "sweet spot" for less bump steer and less arm fatigue like the slp spindle does?I'd stick with stock spindles and if replacing a-arms I'd go with Hygear's Slicast upper a-arms for the added adjustment. Curve skis work well on and off trail with little to no darting or push. It's hard to beat the Curves on a Nytro.

If you are still in need of parts I can probably get you fixed up. Send me a private conversation with a list of what all you need. Be sure to specify color of arms you need.

Moving the skis forward fixes the geometry problems with the nytros. Makes them handle better. And the wider stance just help keep the skies planted to the ground better. I have there 38" +3" coming soon.also, 43 is 2 inches wider than stock correct? and +2 forward does what now? lol
