I've seen some posts where riders are saying they're losing 200-300 rpms from using a 0W40 rather than the OEM 0W30. I'd like to run a full synthetic (Amsoil Formula 4 stroke 0W40, or the new Yamalube 0W40) but I do not want to lose rpms. Anybody experience this issue? Thanks.

I would sure like to know, just about ready to change oil. Just a tip...I have about 1500 mile on Blue Marble 0-40 wt. and I have never lost any rpms.
Thinking about using AMS oil 0-40 full synthetic next time.

You may lose a little bit of speed but that can happen with several different condition changes also. trails are soft or hard, fresh snow, tempuature changes effect your engines perfomance, will you really notice 1 or 2 mph? I would rather go for the security of knowing the motor is protected the best it can be. If you are a racer and run on the same track, same conditions and change your oil every 3 or 4 races then go with a lighter wieght oil other wise stay with the protection of a quality oil designed for high performance, high rpm motors like the 4 strokes in our Yamahas. You will Not notice a difference in your rpms.Liquid Blue said:I've seen some posts where riders are saying they're losing 200-300 rpms from using a 0W40 rather than the OEM 0W30.
