Anyone running a 1.5 track on the sidewinder? What length studs? Any need for added tunnel protection?
I think I might go with a 1,5 ripsaw 2 and am looking for feedback before I pull the trigger.

Curious on this myself, I'm a big fan of my 1.5 on my Renegade and when I switch to a SW I would like to run a 1.5 or the cobra 1.6. I personally don't care about top speed.

I thought about the ice cobra but had a Camso rep talk me out of it. He said that track wouldn't last on higher horsepower sleds running mostly groomed trail. Claimed the lugs will eventually fold over. He steered me towards the ripsaw 2 . Would love to see a prestudded 1.5 ripsaw 2 ply

Hard to digest this since the Cobra is OEM on some SW models and run on many 800s and now 850s. We'll see I guess. I know other SW owners are running the Ice Cobra.

These were my thoughts also as he was telling me this

I've been running the 1.5" lug Ripsaw 2 track this year on my SW with great results. I ride mostly groomed trails and really like the added traction over the stock 1.25" lug track. Since I don't have to contend with many icy conditions I prefer not to stud the track and couldn't be happier with the 1.5". It's also nice to have a fully clipped track.

I also run the 1.5" Ripsaw II. I ran it last year on my NA Viper and loved it. This year I added the MPI turbo kit, and the 1.5" Ripsaw II is a perfect match for the turbo.

Good choices. Whatever you do, do not instal a Talon 38, with studs. The track is junk, and will blow apart very quickly if you stud it. I found very inconsistent track make-up. Some holes were tough to drill, like drilling thru hardwood, others just pushed right thru, like you were drilling thru sawdust. Of course, like all tracks that you add studs to, no warranty.

Out of 3 of these tracks in our group of 6, one track blew off at over 100 mph, and 2 are ready to blow. Not a great confidence builder when a track blows in 2, and you have zero brakes.
I,ve got less than 500 miles on mine, and it will be changed out before next riding season.
Wished I would have been warned before I purchased mine. I spent almost 2K CDN to purchase this track, purchase and instal 4 studs per bar, and to have it installed. What a waste of money.
And now I,ve got to spend more money to buy a decent track for next season.
Once I remove all the studs, the Talon track will make a nice mat for the floor of my trailer. LOL

Wow! Thanks for throwing that out there, I was going to go with a 1.5 Talon.

I would definitely need to stud the track or run an ice ripper. 250 miles on my Sidewinder and I have been stuck at 1 road crossing, stuck at 1 bride crossing and almost looped it once. Lots of ice here in the northeast.

I have to ripsaw 1.5 on my gade studded with 96. I wonder how the cobra 1.6 would last on the sidewinder with 96 up the middle? All I want it that little bit of bite for those icey corners and stopping power. I prefer conventional studs over the ice ripper but im not against trying one

From the info I have gathered re the ice ripper, you don,t get enough penetration with those to do much of anything.
Better than nothing, yes, but nothing close to real studs. My buddy that tried one of those ice rippers ended up adding studs to his track, cause he realized they just didn,t give him any confidence on icy stretches of trails, especially corners and braking on icy trails.
