NSSR speed runs in Forest Lake, MN did not go well!

Too much hp and not enough picks. I ran 3 runs at 12#'s of boost and could not touch the throttle even at 95 mph if I added gas it broke track free and banged the rev limiter. I did 3 runs at 9#'s of boost and did get 1 run to 106 mph but had to use 2/3rds of the track to get it rolling to finally add throttle. I did one run away from the event on thin show over the ice and with no track spin let off at 112 mph. My camera GPS backed up the speed I saw on the gauge and still had more in her but got a little squirrelly. When I left one guy had a faster time (106.67 I think) on a push turbo viper and he was hooking up from the start and carrying the skis the length of the track.

It was great to see all the TY guys out there and the Viper was well represented.
I was dissapointed but was my first time ever on ice and I did not know what to expect.
The worst part of the whole event was, they were very dissorganized. I had time slips posted by them on the board in 3 different categories. The staff did not know how to read the classes on the time slips.

I now have the bug and am currently working on building a sled for grass/ice and asphalt for this coming spring. I will let you know what I decide.

That sucks I was hoping to see what it could really do....yeah I always use the rule of thumb when racing 1 stud per hp and hang the f on!!!

I have 144 studs and 150 screw ins but it just blew the track on the ice. I did not want to get into putting a track on for one event. It hooks up really well on snow tracks.

If you want to run ice you'll need specialized sharpened steel studs in a short lug track. Ice chisels.

Like you said though changing tracks not worth the hassle.

Time to change it to a 144 track and stud the hell out of it...I was a big fan of the Hornets I ran 285 of them 1.52 in a 1.325 cobra and it hooked like crazy on ice and snow

Unfortunately the roetin hornets can no longer be purchased, but if/when anyone wants an awesome ice stud, check out INS stinger studs, they are a direct replacement of the hornets, they'll get you to hook up

Good luck, not into the ice game because hookup unpredictable.
