I'm awaiting arrival of my 2016 Apex XTX LE with the 1.75" track. I ordered the sled knowing the 1.75" may not be best suited for the mainly groomed trail riding I do. But, I wanted the 146" skid length and LE features (body color, dampers, Fox Float shocks).

My question is, do I run the 1.75" and see how it works for trail riding, or do I spend the money to replace it? The one replacement option listed in the Yamaha parts catalog is the 1.352" Cobra.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I run a 2 inch track on the trails with no scratchers. I am in the U.P. though so not sure how the trails are in WI.

I run the U.P. often (lack of snow in central Wisconsin), but I'm hoping I can run in Wisconsin more this season as well.

What skid length do you have? Have you lost a lot of top end with the 2" lug?

I have a turbod apex so it's pretty hard for me to lose top end power. If anything I hook up more using the higher lugs. I'm running a 141 with tips up rails

I run the back country on my apex xtx and it works just fine, way better than the ripsaw it came with. Just use duponts and ice scratchers and your golden.

Great to hear. Do you run any extra wheels? What do you run for carbides on the skis? Any issues with control in icy corners?

I run the excell larger wheels and duponts with snow trackers on the front. Star suspension kit rides and handles awesome. The back country was the best change I did for the sled, It has more traction in the loose snow and corners better on the hard pack, Thought it would be an issue on ice but couldn't tell the difference on ice to the ripsaw. Has less track howl. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!

I have the 1.75 on 2 of my sleds and get along Great. Just run scratchers and DuPont slides or Excel wheels all will help.
I have all 3 and have no issues trail riding. I would not run the stock short lug.

Thanks for the reply. I feel much better about running the 1.75' now. I bet the acceleration compared to the 1.25 is significant?

I feel it is like the 121 vs 144 for the polaris fst. The 144 is actually faster because the power gets to the ground easier. I feel you won't go back to a short lug again.
