I am stretching my 2007 RTX to 136 and I am having trouble deciding between the 1.5 ripsaw and the 1.75 backcountry. Most of my riding is done off trail (very few groomed trails in my area). On a good year, we may only see a couple of feet of snow accumulate. Trails ridden have been packed by multiple sleds and are quite bumpy, but I do like to travel fast, in control. When you get to the fence lines (where I like to ride) is the untouched powder. Basically wondering if there are control issues with the 1.75 on hard pack and if the 1.5 is good enough in 2 to 3 feet of snow.

The 1.75 backcountry is a good track it can handle trail ride very well. Have you look at the 1.5 Crossover I like it a lot for offtrail riding.

It is hands down the best track I have owned to date.....in 2-3 feet is nothing. My attak will stand strait up in powder. It's not even like the same machine.

Mine will stand up in powder as well with a Cobra track. I wouldn't give the track all the credit.
I'm sort of on a cutting the track down kick I figure you could buy the 1.75 and if the lugs are too tall and eating hyfax then cut them down.

Kinger.....put on the rip saw and if you can.....that is my only point.....and as you should be able to stand that thing up with any track on with a S/C .....lol.

I had the Hacksaw 1" and 290+ studs and it would just spin and spin on hardpack and trench in the deep. Cobra with 144 studs hooks ok on the hardpack and stands it straight up.
But your right the ZX2 suspension, and SC definitley helps to elevate the skis! LOL

I have a 144 Backcountry on my Apex and a friend has a 136 1.5 ripsaw (or similar) There is no comparison between the 2. Of course mine is a bit longer being 144 but I don't think the extra bit of length makes up for all the difference in the 2 sleds. I ride mostly off trail or on ungroomed trails. A set of ice scrtachers is a must for the harder stuff but I can't really think of anything negative about the 1.75. If you go that route you will have to remove the tunnel protectors to get it to fit. Best money I have spent on my sled to date. Personally I feel if you are going to stretch it anyway the 144 is a much better option and the cost is not a whole lot more.
