Guys, here is my deal.
I have a 2010 APEX LTX GT with 108 pics insatlled from dealer when I bought new last year.
Sled had trouble coming out of the hole on hard pack trail, worked well on soft meal trail Prevous short tracks RX1/ SRX/Viper always had 144 to 168 pics( most charts call for atleast 168)
had trouble getting sled to turn with 6 in stud boy shaper bars, too much arm power required( Need EPS) switched to dooleys and and put more weight transfer to rear and sled turned better with some push in corner but not bad. Front ski springs are backed off and rebound at around 3 -4 cliks.
my thoughts are add some doubles and atleast 60 more pics total ( Inside only)
I like to ride pretty aggresive what do you guys think.

Just counted my pics.... only 54 (two studs every other paddle) I was supposed to have 108 no wonder she is awfull on hard pac! Called and talked to dealer they are going to install the rest and then I wll add more....... ? should have at least 3 in each paddle for 168.

3-4 patern in a shorty... there are 48 "windows". 54 "windows" in a 136". so 3 per will give you 162. SO looks like i had 162 in my LTX, and 168 in the RTX.

Clear as mud?

Yes and thanks. I can't be leave I rode with only 54 studs...... might as well not had any!

I tried 108 in my attack and as stated above would not do any less then 3 per pitch which is 162 on a stock apex ltx.

108 pics down center now

Took my sled back to Woody's Yamaha in Maine ( Were I bought it last year) And they put the other 54 pics ( 108) total that I asked for last year when I bought the sled. Dan ( Salesman) didn't skip a beat in honoring the agreement even though it had been a year! Now I will add the other 60 totaling 168. I plan on adding some double backers every other paddle.

For best hole shot you have to stud the outside belt and avoid the center of the center belt. ( I ran four per window on my Attack with a couple other trick's) And to turn I run the aggressive SnowTracker's, and it only requires a bit more arm at slow speed's with NO hunting or darting. Three regular carbide trail stud's per window would probably be fine using the outside belt and avoiding the center of the center belt.

I am thinking of adding 27 doubles ( adding 1 more side to side of current studs) every other paddle and than 1 on outside every other paddle alternating sides? That would bring my total to 162? What do you guys think?

Done and ready! fresh Engine oil change and gear box oil change , Chain adjusted. Headlights adjusted,Fresh grease and ready for snow!

I ran 108 and loved it. At 160 I lost to much top end

My nytro has 114 and love it

I'm with you...I ran 96 in my RX and it would leave with just about anyone on hardpack. I ran last year without studs in my Apex but I'm going to sacrifice some topend for some safety...
