11,000 + miles on a Vector

My 2005 Vectors just turned over 11,000 miles last week. So far the motor has been great. Haven't used any oil between changes, get from 17 - 23 miles to the gallon and just basically runs great. Wish they could have put in a better chasis though. Also, it's in the shop for a bad stator as I type this which apparently has to come direct from Japan. Hopefully the parts will be in by this weekend. The big downside has been the junk rear suspension. As to date, the rails have been replaced three times, the track twice, a w frame and numerous assorted parts. Also have fallen victim to the exposed sway bar arms breaking the bulkhead due to minor impact. Didn't even realize I had hit any thing until I looked at the sled in the garage Monday morning. Total repairs on chasis realated issues are now up to approximately $5,000. Anybody buying one of these sleds to put high miles on shoulg definetely invest in the extended warranty. At least Yamaha has covered the skid frame and track repairs so far. The bulkhead ended uo going against my insurance though. Would I buy one again?? Not real sure at this point as I have had Polaris and Ski Doo hold up better. Burnt the motor down twice on the Ski Doo, but that was stILL cheaper and quicker to get repaired. I would like to hear if any ones getting lots of mile on the 2006 monoshocks without having major repairs. Major downside at this time is that the sleds spent over a month in the shop this winter for all the repairs and we all know winters are too short to waste this much time on.
 

Lets see, the first time for the rails, the center shaft broke lose taking the ears off of rails, the second time the w arm broke apart at the welds screwing up the rails, the track and the rear shock and the third time the center shaft broke off again and tore up the track.
 
All the more justification to replace the whole skid with aftermarket. Could have had a garage full of M-10's and Expert X's for $5000. I am sold on replacing mine come spring.

You rode a Vector for 11,000 miles and you can still hear ? I just got back from a short 1200 mile trip and my ears are still ringing.
 
Eh??? Waht was that?? seriously, I haven't found the infamous track howl to be a problem with this sled. Once in a while on really icy trails if the hyfax is worn down low but otherwise it's no problem.. As far as an M10 being cheaper, it would have been done a while ago except Yamaha's dollar keeps fixing the rear suspension.

Really curious though if the 2006 monoshock suspension will hold up better to high miles.
 
At the end of this weekend we should have 5000 miles on an Attak and almost 4000 on our Apex ER. These two have been good other than a couple of idler wheels on the Attak.

Another Attak we ride with has over 3000 miles and has had a number of idler wheels and the one rail has cracked behind the bolt hole for the inner rear idler wheel. This has happened to two Attak's in our area (oddly both on the righthand side).

Also, the cable for the remote adjust can be broken by large ice chunks so check often (not expensive but remember adjuster and shock must be timed when replacing).

As you can see short-track's seam to be good so far.
