Heh - Looks like I might be moving to a 2012 Apex, found a great deal, might be too good to pass up.
People that have these things, how do you like the power steering, and anybody having gone from a 2008 or 2009 to a 2011 or 2012, how much of a difference is there?
Also - what kind of mileage are you getting, and how do they hook up with the 1.25 inch lug. I'm thinking of leaving this sled unstudded, as I had no problems with the unstudded new Vector last year, other than having the rear end slid into the center of trail on right hand fast turns. Whoop-eeee!! Hope nobody coming in the other direction.

You will love it. Other than the premium fuel (price) I get about 15 mpg compared to my old 06 apex getting 12 ish. I still have the 06 and my wife fights me for the 2011, she wins most of the time.

I would not recomend riding Eagle River icy trails without studs or iceripper track as you know you will have washed out icy corners. My bud did ok with unstudded Rage but did most his riding in UP. 124HP vs 162 is a huge difference in track spin. I tried to ride without studs on Doo 800 MXZX & did a few 360s on a lake with 4 miles on the sled put right back on trailer & had dealer install studs the next day. I would never have a short track 162 HP sled & 128 is short track without studs or iceripper track. Yep studs can be a PITA but my 2007 Attak studs & track look brand new after 8500 miles so far no problem with pull outs so 2 ply tracks hold up really well with studs down the center.

15000 miles on my Attak/Apex/RX1 and have never run studs. Never will, either. It's not as unsafe as is led to believe.

Deal is a "buster" right now for various reasons, but still looking.
Could move to an XTX, but I just can't get used to the long track handling feel, and I think the hookup difference is over stated.
People say a studded short track hooks up fine, particularly with these new tracks.
And yeah I know the un-studded track presents problems in some conditions, but heh, you can always slow down! I'm not 25 anymore, anywho.
I have no doubt this would be a nice sled, but originally I had intended to wait till next year for another new sled, having bought the Vector last year.
But once you get it in your mind, it's hard to disengage from the idea. I'll keep looking for the right thing.

as far as the long track feel of the xtx i dont notice it on the xtx it handles like a short track and as far as hook up with out studs it will spin the track just like a shorty but in the right conditions it hooks up way better the my 3 buddies 07 apexes. i guess what I am saying is give it a try you might love it i did.

The 144 XTX is tipped up to me only way to go with 144 track. I agree it is all about "the deal" but for me I would faver XTX much easier to sell down the line. 128 not hacking it for me just too short for my use.

Yes, I'm reconsidering the XTX now. A bit more money, but overall the deal is better with other incentives.
The Yamaha stats on this sled say it's 118.1" in length, whereas the 128-shorty is 6.5 inches shorter at 111.6".
I sent an email to the dealer to find out exactly how they measure these lengths - bumper to bumper, or tip of ski's to end of track.
Realistically I should keep what I got and call it a day. Getting hooked on the latest and greatest tech in sleds is a serious disease.

Tip of the ski, to the back side of the rear bumper.

Yep I'm good with my 2007 Attak GT runs good never let me down. EPS & 144 tipped all good but still very heavy so waiting to see if 14s bring us something new then would wait a year so for me maybe something used down the line depending on 14s. Right now not feeling it with mid 40s, green grass & sunshie.lol

Whitey, you're all full of good news! Good thing I'm not deer hunting this year.
Dealer just emailed me and said XTX is exactly 7 inches longer than STD.
7 inches all in tunnel extension. Wish I was up north so I could measure tunnel extension length on my LTX to see the diff.

A Vector LTX, also Apex Attack or the Apex LTX, are exactly the same length, 118.1". I did a lot of home work before I bought mine, and wanted to make sure it would still fit in my 10' long Triton Clam shell.

Nick - how do you like the sled?
Are you happy with the ride, and how is the bottoming thru the stutters?
Also, what kind of mileage are u getting? I'll take any rider impressions you have.
Thanks.

I liked the sled. But it was not the ride the I was looking for.

I'm not young like most of the guys on here with this type of sled, and I doubt that we ride the same. I'm 67, 5' 10", 180, 200 with gear on, but I still ride hard, and put a lot of miles on every year, more than most. I ride trails, mostly, only ride off trail a little.
Never really bottomed out much, just didn't care for the way it rode through the stutters. I like the Mono, much better, and that's what I have now.
I had things done to the Ohlins GT Rear Shock, that HyGear, or Pioneer, don't even offer. It has Apex GYTR Front clickers on it also.
Check this build post and the pictures.

I get 14mpg or better with it. And last but not least, I really like the Power steering.

I have the 2011 xtx and love the power steering you can get a lot more front end bite without the hard steering, I rum pc5 with Ulmers mapping runs awesome and easy to get 13, 14 mpgs. Still trying different settings to the skid. The mono is better for studder bumps but this never bottoms out for me 230 lbs dressed.
