Well just got a chance to put on my first miles on the Attak! The engine runs flawless, after the warm up "vibe period" it is veryyyy smooth indeed. Conditions were: first snow 10"-12" and 24 degrees F. I just came off of an 04' Renegade X SDI. Although I absolutely love the Gade, the ride position on the Attak seems more natural to me. I've been riding since 67' and again the Attak seats a bit more conventionally, than does the Rev Chassis. The ride quality is excellent, although I only have 12 miles on the seat so far I thinking that this will be a great sled for those 300 mile day rides. The steering does feel heavier than does the trailing arm Yamaha's, not unbearable but heavier. The wind protection could be better, I noticed my hands and legs were catching a bunch of air. ( I wasn't dressed properly for riding ) but did have on Gore-Tex gloves, a warm coat, and a Moto styled helmet with goggles. Keep in mind that there is no base yet, but launching it off the rises that I could find, the sled feels very smooth and predictable. It does however need more ski for the type of off-trail riding that I do. Breaking through the fresh, it will start to veer off and turning the skis does little more than throw more snow into your face, only body English will put it back on course . The front will float but you need to get some pretty good ground speed for that to happen. This sled will require GORE-TEX when ridding thru the powder. The front suspension just hurls the snow up onto the hood and in your face. Again wider skis should help that as well. I did have an older 97' vintage "Aggressive" Polaris chassis out also. The Polaris's wide hood and belly pan kept the snow under the sled and powder in the face was very minimal. ( but it sure wasn't as much fun to ride). My first impressions are that this will be an awesome sled on the packed surface, but it will take some changes to make it a more capable off-trail sled. The engine, although I did not pull any long runs seems to pull hard and keep pullin'. It seems very "happy" at about 6500 rpm. When I did give her the "onion" I only read about 9200rpm on the tach, maybe as speed increases so will the rpm's. Also after the 300 mile break in period the higher rpms may start to show up quicker, I don't know, as this is my first 4Stroker. Oh yea, it was an extra bonus not to stink like KLOTZ after the maiden voyage. Hope I don't sound too critical.....just getting the feel for this thing....attached are a couple of pix's I took .....notice the snow everywhere....

LOL... well, just noticed it was YOU (Bodacious) writing this, so I guess you don't have to call me after all! Nice report so far, but remember, "first snows" are usually lousy for making any decisions as far as ride and power, and especially handling... but if I know you, you've already got at least ONE pair of new skis picked out to try!
Have fun – can't wait to try her out! – Roy
P.S. Hard to believe it could look so much like winter literally over night!!! Time for me to go wrench on my ol' beat up F7.

I put 20 miles on my Attak today and I noticed also that my hands got a little colder than what I thought they should be. Bodacious--we only got about 5" in Northport, I hear Williamsburg got two feet. This sled is soooo much better than my 03 Rx-1, didn't take much of a ride to realize that. Won't be long before everybody get's some!!!

Put on a set of ski from an apex mountain. Your hardware and carbides will swap over. This will be a major improvement for your style of riding. ===SRXSRULE===

That is just what I have in mind for tomarrow. I rode another 10 miles tonight over much of the same terrain as earlier today. With the snow tightening up a bit this thing is a blast. This will be a great sled!!SRXSRULE said:Put on a set of ski from an apex mountain. Your hardware and carbides will swap over. Looks like I'm gonna have to get Mickey Mouse ears for my Attak (that's what we called the first Polaris sleds that needed hand protection .. if you look at black hand guards from the front, it looks like Mickey Mouse ears).
Oh well, I saw some blue ones on this forum (but can't remember where.. )

I think if you are on packed trails most of the time and not trashing thru 2 feet of fresh powder with the attaks taller shield you will be ok,but if you do mostly off trail thru lots of powder than any extra protection will be a help.
