I finally cracked and drove an hour through freezing rain to go find some snow, and these were the impressions that I got...
1. I know what they mean now by "darty" steering.
2. 2" paddles grab a lot more than the 1.25" on this machine
3. My shoulder loved the key start, and not to mention reverse for unloading.
4. Is it just me, or does this machine really jerk when the belt engages? Does it take a while for the belt to glaze a bit or what? (There's only 200kms on this thing so far)
After trading in my 600 triple I appreciate that the Nytro will probably start on the first try for years, but still doubting whether I made the correct decision.

What model of NYTRO do you have?
Most of the darty feeling can be taken out with suspension adjustments, and a set of dual carbide runners will take care of the rest.
Out of the box I was very disappointed with my 09 xtx, but now that I have it set up I wouldn't trade it for anything!

I've got a stock 2012 xtx. Geez man, you must have a few grand in options there, hey? Currently, I set the front shocks to 'factory' (6 clicks out) I'm assuming your suggestion is to soften them up some? I notice you also have the back country track - something I would like to get my hands on.
Don't get me wrong it sure feels like a tight machine, and even after an hour or two I was getting more used to it.

You have no idea how much I have spent on this sled, lol, but it was worth it!
Front susp is about right, I have my springs at stock setting, 9 clicks from full soft, 12 clicks when trail gets tough.
Rear suspension, dial in a lot of weight transfer, springs on soft, limiter strap stock location. Front is light like this, less darting.
For the harsh engagement, try a set of 14.5 mm rollers and YPY spring in the primary clutch.( do you know gearing? IMO, NYTRO doesn't need to be geared down for the track change)
Try this. But write down your starting points so if you don't like it you can go back.

It's nice you're able to ride already! I put in the comfort clutch kit from schmidt Bros. Now the clutch engages much smoother. Also added the tuner skis. Playing around with suspension settings will allow you to dial it in. There's a lot of good info on this site from guys who have already been there.

Depending on how much snow, and if it was wet and heavy, that will yield a dirty sled. If you found snow this early that is like the middle of winter, then try taking off some ski pressure, and or upgrading the crappy stock skis.

A set of curves skis will almost eliminate the darting plus offer some floatations. I also Agee about the Schmidt bros clutching. I have the stage two, and it is worth the money! Lots of power down low and mid speeds! Get a Mountaintech ski plate on there to protect the engine. The stock skid plate is really flimsy!

Are we talking about the xs (curve) skis here? Does a guy also need the mount kit, or will they mount with existing hardware?

You will need a mount kit. Yes, I have the xs kit with the 4" leading edge. I believe all the kits are based off of the same ski, just different grades of mounting hardware.
The tuners are great in the hardback, but they push bad in the loose.

Okay, this deserves it's own thread. I'm thinking the track can stay for now (I'm choking on the price tag, and let's face it - bigger paddles necessitate more snow) but handling issues will become a pain (in the wrist!)

I have to comment here. I don't think radianguy knows how much he has in his sled lol.
Do what he said, ypy and 14.5 rollers. Will engage at around 3400 rpm If I remember right. Much easier using reverse as well. Adjust the suspension like he said it works. With the clutching change and suspension adjusted it works GOOD.
Radianguy set my nytro up for me and became a totally different sled.
