Is there a wire there already or do I have to find somewhere to hook it in to. I really do not want to go directley to the battery, On all the time means trouble. 09 RTX.

DC Plug

Pre-wire from factory, on the clutch side tyrapped to the inside. You can't see from the outside. But keep looking it's there. It's in the middle between the primary and secondary clutch. It probably has a plug on the end of the connector.

If it is for the nytro it will plug in. Mine was just behind the radiator on the clutch side. It has a factory plug that you remove to plug in and the wire is perfect length. Plug is white. Puppe I use this for my gps and it works well. If you turn the key off and want the gps on, just switch over to battery. Most GPS plugs will bounce out of the factory yamaha 12 volt plug and thats why i hardwire them with a switch. This time I just wrapped black tape around the plug a couple of times and it stays in way better.

Not for gps, but for sheild and whateverelse. I did not buy the factory yamaha plug I got mine from West Marine, weatherproof and nice tight fit for the plug. Thanx for the help I will try and get done tomorrow. Merry Christmas to all........... ;)!

Has anyone come up with a slick way to keep the large plastic nut which holds the factory 12V socket in place from backing off? Mine has vibrated loose for what must be the 3rd or 4th time.

Actually, some types of Loctite and certain plastics don't get along the greatest (corrosive). Just add a small bead of silicone. It will prevent the plastic nut from backing off, and the bead can be pealed off with ease if needed.

1 Orange with black runner and 1 black wire sound right? Only reason asking is cause there is only power there with sled running not with key just on.

Hole is already there on the dash just remove the rubber plug and install 12volt plug.
