Over the last couple of days I've got some miles on My Mtn. lite. I will break this down and make it short and to the point.
First the motor. It's a little work of art. Accelleration is very respectable to lets say 60 mph. I wound it out once on a trail and hit 75. my buddy who is about 80 lbs. lighter than me said he had it flipping between 79 and 80 mph. Throttle response is just awsome. All 80 hp seem like they are always right there waiting. The only down side to the thing is vibration. and the only time I don't really like it is when I'm running the trail up to my secret "area 51" riding grounds. I know some guys say its smooth but I just don't see it. Its a twin thats firing 180/540 and I notice it. I have been riding 4-cylinder Yamaha's the last 4 years so maybe I just notice more than some. I'm not complaining, just stating what I notice. Its not like the thing is going to knock fillings out of your teeth.
Next on trail. I am pretty happy with it here. For a mtn sled I think it turns pretty good. I'm not going to set the pace in the twisty's on it. In the straights its a comfortable ride. So far I have touched nothing on the suspension and the rear cam spring setting is on Medium and the front shocks are on full soft. (I hope I get a chance sometime this winter to ride a FX on a day with some good trail conditions.)
Finally Off Trail. This Machine Makes me look like a better rider than I am. Very well balanced. I can lay this sucker down and 180 almost like a waverunner. Sidehilling is a freakin breeze. Yamaha's add on the internet was not Bull$***. This thing is the ultimate boondocker.
Other likes. The winshield works great. Handwarmers work great.
Dislikes. snow on the running boards. Its bad. I am installing the shields on the tunnel and carrying a small car windshield ice scraper in my windshield bag.
final analysis. The Attak is going to be used mostly on designated trail rides this season. Everything else will be on the Mountain Lite.
nice. i did a lot of deep hero snow powder riding yesterday here in colorado.. just passed the 200 mile mark. i love my mtn lite, no major complaints.. thanks for the write up and review.
