Just purchased a 121 ZX2 for my Phazer. Trying to decide what track to go with it. 90% groomed, 10% other. I am also trying to see if it is possible to extend to a 128". If so, which track? Any thoughts?

128x15x1.25 Ripsaw easy to find since they was on so many cats, just cut it down
or
128x13.5(I think)x1.357(I think) fire cat track
or
I am not sure on this if they make the RipsawII in a 128. The Nytro is using it this year and they say its better for that sled becaues of the less side bite it offers allowing it to turn better but cats 4st use the Ripsaw same with the race sleds, and trail sleds.

If you can get the 128 extensions do that and get a 128x13.5x1.375 firecat sno pro track( what I'm running). If no extensions try and hunt down a 121x14x 1.5 freeride they are awesome(what my uncle runs). You can also look for a used 121x14x1.5 off of an 02 or o3 polaris pro x 440 I believe that is the only years they had that track. I owned both an 01 and 04 pro x 440 and they did not have that track. Theres some options for you, but definitely get a more aggressive track you will not regret it, huge difference in traction. Please post how the zx2 works in your phazer and how you come out on this situation.

Thanks Sno! I ordered the 121" 1.5" Freeride yesterday. I can't wait. I was thinking of going 128" but inorder to do that, you just relocate the skid 7" back. That did not give me anymore track on the ground. I will give a report once it is done and we have snow. I have two Nytro's, but I think this Phazer is going to be my sled of choice. Dana

Man you have to take some pics and give some feedback. I would really consider this mod rather than buying a new sled. My Phazer only has like 2500 miles on it, pretty sure it will last for sometime!
But the back end rides like crap, so if I am going to fix it I am still on the fence, new shocks and beef up the existing skid or drop in a ZX. Theres obviously a price difference but WOW I like what I have seen with that ZX

mikewalters I also thought mine rode mediocre at best so I bought the hygear torsion spring spacers( off here), snocross torsion springs(off hardcoresledder), walker evans rear shocks(take offs from a polaris dragon rmk on snowest), 128 extensions(new from hartman),firecat sno pro track(craigslist) and wow what a difference. The walker evans lower the rear by .75 inch and makes a handling improvement. It was 550 well spent. It took some time and luck to find it all but glad it came together.MikeWalters said:Boston RX1 said:Thanks Sno! I ordered the 121" 1.5" Freeride yesterday. I can't wait. Pretty sure you only move the skid back 3.5" for a 128" track.

I thought they make extensions for them? or just set the rear idlers back farther. I have not looked to see or pay attention much how much room there is.

Hartman makes a 128 extension for the stock yamaha skid. I dont think he shows them on his website, but thats what i put on over the summer.

I understand that rail extension would give better traction by adding the amount of track that contacts the ground. But what i am wondering is if the skid could be set back 3'' in order to run a 128 track without extensions.
Has someone done this? If so is there pictures and 'how to' around?

Looking at my skid from my SP 600 and the skid from the Phazer. The SP is around 1 inch back and the skid is 1-2 inches longer.
That beings said if you move the Phazer skid back you will not get more track to the ground. If you add the extensions you will. You might get a good result from setting it back a little and doing the extensions (just make so they can pathways to each other). The SP has a 128 and that rear skid handles very well ( I cant speak for just trail riding). Moving it back will give you a different reaction in the skid.
