Tracks USA tip up rail. Extra wheel kit right a stock location, 144x1-1/2. Cutting bumper off and doing my own custom extension Sunday?

The chain case was simple. Took my son and I to get the front two bolts out of the skid.

Cut a 15 inch track down to 14. Can be done, did it with a saws all but not the cleanest job.

I was able to climb the drift twice no issues, dead start and climb. This thing is a blast, can't wait to boondock with my son.

My son did exactly the same mods. We cut the track with a table saw, went well and looks OK. Did you find that the track was tight even at the loosest adjustment? His was way too tight so I overtightened the track to stretch it out a bit and then re-adjusted it properly.

Yes very tight, going to run it hopefully will loosen. This tight on apex broke the drive shaft from flex. :o|

That's why I pre-stretched mine. Wonder if this is a design issue with the extensions?

Nope, my factory 144" skid is too long also. My adjusters are completely backed off and the track is a bit tight for my liking. I tried to go to 9 tooth drivers on my MTX and couldn't get the skid back in it was so tight. Worst case drill some new holes 1" forward to move the skid up.

If you can please post pics of you doing the tunnel! I will be doing my 136" extension soon.

Glad the track swap went well. You would have just been trenching a big hole with the stock track if you tried to tackle that drift.

Yeah, when I swaped out my stock RTX track for an Arctic Cat Firecat 13.5 x 1.25 x 144 Predator track, it was super tight as well. My track adjuster nuts did not have the nylon locking insert in the nut engaging the adjuster thread. I put some blue locktite on the nuts and have been running it for a couple thousand miles. I have to say that the track hasnt really stretched much if any over a couple thousand miles. But with Excell wheels and Low Snow wheels, my hyfax wear has been good and I havent had to touch it since the stretch.

I have some 1" diameter round tube. I am cutting the bumper right after the "y" and extending it 12". As for tunnel, I will just bend some aluminum plate.

Nice to own a fab shop, it's time I am having a problem with lately.

I might do that as well with the lock tight. It's like putting on the brakes tight right now.

Yea my new track was super tight with the extensions. I ground more out of the adjusters to get it looser and ran the lock nuts backwards and only have a couple threads engaged but it did stretch a bit now after a couple years. I am running 9 tooth anti ratchet drives with the rail tips cut off and anti stab wheels on it.
Here is how I did mine used the stock mtx bumper then got a sheet of aluminum diamond plate cut it to size and used a brake on the edges, it extends all the way up to the front of the seat in the '07 there is a rear hole under the muffler that I covered also.
