136" Conversion complete

otis any trouble puttin the seat onto your rx-1?? i am looking into putting one on my 04 warrior, what are your thoughts on that process??

Seat is really easy. You do have to cut off the tail light connectors and exchange them with the RX-1 ones, but even the wire colors are the same. The seat bolts right on with the same hooks in the rear and even the tail light is a direct bolt on item without mods. The gas tank cover does have to be modified, but put on the seat and you can easily see where you need to cut. I used the windshield trim to cover my sometimes wavy cut, but unless you are really critical you don't even need to do that. It will likely take about 2 hours if you are careful and measure twice and cut once.

If you find a Nytro seat, the pig-tail does not need spilcing.

Otis, Nice job on the extension. Your sled will be night/day different - just don't ride an Attak for an extended amount of time. The power will be :o| when you get back on yours. BTDT

Otis, I agree with ya! I have done the 136 extension on my 03 shorty too! I keep thinkin about a new Attack, but bein able to rebuild the shorty makes you feel awsome. The sled takes on a great new look with a great new feel! And a very thick wad in your wallet. Guys, with all the great info on this site, you could do it too! Thanks for all the info , and for Saving me some big bucks. The 03 shorty is still my favorite sled of all time!

I am not really disappointed with my power. With ECP, ulmer stage 3 clutch, and pipes (plus all the weight savings) I am darn near where the apex and attak sleds are in the 1/4 mile. I did ride the attak for a day and that is the reason for all my mods! That is the best sled period in my mind.

i am going to be going to 136 this weekend same as you have done mine is a 05-rx1 do i need to relocate the rear heat exchanger , or does it stay in the same location.
thanks

track extension

Do you know exactly how much total length was added to the sled with the hartman ext.? I'm trying to figure if it will still fit in my 10' covered trailer. I have simmons ski's which I think add a little length also. thanks. sled looks great ;)!

The rear heat exchanger stays untouched unless you want to add a heat exchanger back there. hartman sells a kit for that if you want.

The added amount to the rails is 8", but not sure about the tunnel extension, but should be about the same.

Not was all well with the conversion. I ended up droppin the skid after I discovered the rear axel was assembled incorrectly.

The bolts to adjust the track tension are eccentric to allow them be adjusted thru the track windows. I ended up putting one the wrong way and in doing so could not adjust the track tension since the nut was facing inside to the center of the track.

I also came to the conclusion that the tunnel protectors are hitting the track without me on it and would have to be removed.

That is not an easy fix. I had to drop the rear skid again. Tear out the rivets holding the tunnel protectors in by chiseling them out. Not easy when the track is in and then change the rear axel.

I also added a few goodies that came in the mail. I found a pair of Fox Floats for super super cheap and added a 5" Rox pivoting riser with the new Apex updated hooked handlebars.

Now I am officially ready to ride.

You'll love the additional length of the track. I was ready to buy a doo or cat after my first year on the 03 short track/nipple setup.

I still have it and that says a lot.

I have a 2003 rx-1 with a 151x2 track....what do you guys think about going to a 136x2?

i ride alot on lakes and small trails, not to much mountain riding....although I would like to go out and do some groomed trail riding in Rocky mtn house alberta and such...

let me know what you guys think.

go 144" with the tip up rails. handles like a 136 but floats like a 144 off trail.
