Hello all,
I tried to sort through past topics to see if I could find my answers withou tposting, but I didn't find exactly the info I'm looking for, so here we go. I'm finally ready to order my 136" kit, but I want a little with information first. I'm on a budget (the less I spend on the sled, the more I have to use for sledding trips), so cost is a factor, but I'm willing to pay more if its really necessary. For kits, I'm leaning toward either the MP Stage 2 kit, or the Hartman kit. It seems like these kits give the most bang for the buck...taller height, more travel (unless I'm wrong here), and better aproach angle. I'm wondering if I'm losing out on anything by not getting the Stage 3 kit, with the full rails...so is the Stage 3 kit worth twice as much? If the stage 2 kit is O.K., are there any real differences between the MP and the Hartman kits other than just looks (Hartman with the round bumper, MP with the flatter version)? Does the taller height of the stage 2 kit hurt cornering, having a higher center of gravity? I LOVE hard cornering.
Next, for a track, I'm leaning toward the Ripsaw from Tracks USA. I ride almost entirely groomed trails, and I ride very hard much of the time. I also do long rides. Does this sound like a good track? Straight line drag traction doesn't matter to me, its overall traction at trail speeds, and coming out of the corners that I want. The only thing I'm going to miss is that my current riding style has me pitching the rear of the sled out through tight high speed corners, using track spin to my advantage. I'm sure I won't be able to do this with a 136" Ripsaw! General opinions please? My card is warmed up and I want to call and order what I need...I just need to make up my mind before I do the wrong thing. Thanks!

I can comment on the MPI stage 2 kit as I sell them. The really nice feature of this kit is your improve the approach angle of the track. I think stock is something like 34 degrees and after you install the MPI kit its about 17. Major increase in performance there no doubt. I sold one to a guy in Ely MN who has it for sale as he is not going to be installing it. I can get you hooked up with him if you are interested. Just PM me and ill take care of you.
As for the track the 9922 Ripsaw is an excellent track, I would definetely recommend it for your application. I also sell these tracks for $389 shipped anywhere in the lower 48. Good luck with your decision...BBY

I have done both this season, I like the MPI tunnel extension better with its rounder edge. I do not care for the hartman rail extensions tho, they dont fit that great. As for the MPI rail ext's I do not know as I only got the sheet metal. I installed an M10 136" Ohlins with it.
I have been using the 6 pitch tracks for years they work great, but I have been thinking of trying a ripsaw just for kicks. 8)

I know you want to stay on a budget but, The Expert-X is an unreal suspension. Rode this year on some of the roughest trails and never has my back felt so good. Big difference in ride and the weight transfer is awsome!! Sled feels much smoother, no track drag, loose track adjustment. Best suspension upgrade out there. Used the Mountain Performance extension also.

Look for a Warrior rear skid. I just spent 350 miles on mine and the ride is fabulous! I also recommend the Ripsaw. Yamaha hasn't had to warranty one yet

As I hear it, Yamaha is only offering a 3 month warranty on the track. That means that nearly everybody's warranty is UP.

1 year for DEFECTIVE parts. A worn track isn'tdefective, andwhen I asked about my broken off finger problem a week after buying my sled last year, I was told the track isn't covered for wear. I want a track with more of an older design, something more durable...but the Ripsaw looks better than what I had.

I went with Hartman and I am very happy with it. He talked me into staying with the stage 1 kit because most of my riding is on trails and that the stock suspension mounting would better suit my style. I did go with the Ripsaw and I absolutely love it, hard to describe the difference in traction...amazing!
