Hello Mountain folks
I´m extending my 04 warrior with camoplast 159" grossover track and Hartman´s 159" tunnel extension and 151" rail extention and relocate the skid by 4".
Is it necessary to put on anti stab weels to the tip of the rails when I relocate the skid by 4"?
I´m also putting on a longer rear mounting bracket to drop the skid about 1,5"-2". Do I need to drop the rear shock´s front mounting point´s also when i´m dropping the rear mounting point 1,5"-2"?
Thanks
Ernie

Not sure what a "crossover?" track is. Does it have tall lugs? My thoughts are.....reason for bigger footprint is ususally to improve deep snow performance. The photo on your signiture looks like you get some snow. My experience with moving the suspension back to accomodate a longer track was not good. Even back 1 1/2 inches made a lot more ski pressure and affected handling. Skis would not come off the ground, even climbing steep. 4 inches is a lot. Next, the reason we have dropped the suspension on our sleds in the past is to avoid tunneling out in deep snow. We did it to all our old sleds, and the biggest improvement seemed to be they looked cool with their tail up in the air. We tried it on our RX-1's and again, they looked cooler, but handling was affected noticeably. They are already top heavy, and going higher made it worse. I think one of the reasons the Holz susension seems to work well is it actually settles the back down lower than the stock suspension while riding, although it can sag when you start to tunnel out in the deep to keep you going and going. You can make some incredible trenches without stopping. We even losen our front shocks at times to lower the front to also lower the c.g. and improve stability. All said, I say go ahead and try it. What's great about RX1's is how fun they are to fiddle with. Give it a shot and let us know how it goes. I'm not sure what an anti-stab wheel is, but going from a 136 to 151 seems like a long ways and probably could use some support. I've heard of extensions that carry the Hyfax all the way back, but have not seen them. Holz sent me some 136 to 151 extensions for a polaris by accident once and then had no interim support, so who knows.
I believe the crossover tracks are a new 1 1/2" lug track

Like Kachess said 4 inches is a long way for a stock Yamaha skid since they really don't have a lot of transfer to begin with. You will likely find the sled quite front heavy with that pull back. If you decide to go ahead you will need to lower the front arm by probably as much as an inch as well as pull it back. If it were me, and it was last year, I'd track down a different skid altogether.

I have the new crossover track 151 on my 04 rx1 mtn you will love it great all round track, you will need the ext. drivers that track hooks up way more than the stock 2'' paddle and it is the 1 1/2 lug.

Kachess, you may have something there, but as you said i´m going for it. Antistab wheels is small wheels to mount on the front tip of the rails to avoid stabbing the track with with the rails when the skid is relocated.
Its not easy to find good used skids here where I live and it will cost me big $$$ to get a good used skid from the US. Shipping isnt cheap from US to Greenland. That is one of the main reasons I went with the rail extensions and relocation of the skid.
But I can assure you that I will get another skid for my RX when I get the chance.
Thanks

MSRX-ernie what kind of skid are you looking for stock or aftermarket?

MSRX - when you drop the rear mount point of the skid, you'll have to drop the middle (shock) mount point as well. The skid will want to bind on you if you change it's geometry. I used a long piece of aluminum as a template. Bolted it to the front mount hole and then marked the middle and rear holes stock position, drilled the marks on the bar and then swung the bar down to where I wanted the rear mount and drilled both rear and middle.
You can't just measure down a specific distance, because you have rotation as well.

Yamahaboy, I might want a newer cat skid someday.
Edge_kw, thats what I did, only I used a piece of wood as a template.
I´m also getting rid of my stock exhaust. But there´s no where I can get a Glass pack exhaust here where I am. So I went to the junk yard yesterday and found me a exhaust from a Toyota Corolla
that I´m putting on, will be interesting to see how it turns out.
How is the sound of the glass pack compared to stock exhaust? I tried to start my sled up with out the exhaust and it sounded like thunder in my ears, way to noisy. Hope the exhaust I´m puttin´ on doesnt sound that way!
I´ll post pics of the finished project soon.

Here's a link to the glass pack I put on. You can order it on-line. http://www.flopro.com/GlassPack.htm
Part no. 3012
The muffler shop just put the appropriate ends on it.
Sound-wise - - slightly louder than stock. When you're in a garage, more noticeable, but in the snow, it's just grumblier (is that a word??)

I can see why you are scavenging parts. At first I didn't notice you were from Greenland. Here's some pics of Greenland I shot from the plane a couple of months back coming back from Europe. Clearly Greenland has no parts stores, at least I can't see any. LOL
