I am new to four stroke sleds and am wondering how everyone else's is as far as throttle response. I just purchased the sled this summer and was told it has non octane gas in it. It seems like after it is started and I let it warm up there is sometimes a stumble when you thumb the throttle. I am used to sport bikes and having a very crisp throttle response. It seems like my buddies doo 1200 throttle is a lot smoother and also idles smoother. I have checked with Yamaha dealer and they have told me that all service bulletin have been taken care of for my sled.

Did you warm it until the dash light was out before applying throttle? Might just be from the warm temp outside and old gas.

It would be non-oxygenated fuel non octane would be called water.

If it is not up too temp or over 100deg it will have bit of a bobble watch the temp gauge and wait till it hits 100 or more

Sorry for the confusion it is non oxygenated fuel. I let the sled warm up. I made sure that the temp gauge got up above 100 each time I have run it and it always seems to stumble when you give it throttle.

I would wait a bit longer for snow but then completely drain tank and put fresh regular 87 Octane gas in it. Put the stuff you drained in the Snowblower or Truck.

My 2014 XF7000 has a bit of a wandering idle when cold. 100 degrees is not warmed up. Let it trip the fan, at 190-200 degrees, let the fan draw down the temp, and give it a couple quick stabs. Throttle should be instant. These things are Really crisp.

On another note, lets not start it until the battery terminals are clean and tight. Meaning removed, clean, and tighten. Sled has been sitting for months and months. Corrosion can, and will, occur between the cable and battery terminal during this time.

This should be part of our in-season check list too. I've found mine just a little off snug just about every time that I check. Maybe 2-3 times per season. I have a feeling this could be one of the contributing factors to the infamous kick back taking out starters. Those battery cables are pretty long. Any voltage drop could, and will, cause problems.

Back on topic........throttle is Very crisp when Fully warmed up. You're going to love it!

outside temp affects it to a degree as well.
