2017 Apex XTX
2011 Apex se, bought new left over last winter, have run it for it for two winters and now have 15,000kms on it Compared to my 2007 gt this sled is amazingly reliable and is much improved. So far I have changed the donuts twice at 6000kms just because, (they were not leaking), and again at 13,000kms(heard a slight poof on deceleration). I repacked all the drive line bearings this fall, and have had no related failures. The factory hyfax just got changed , they lasted the full 15,000k. It, s on the original belt and spark plugs. The front end bushings have a little slop and will get oilites this summer, as well as all the rear skid bushings and bearings will be changed. Other than grease, oil changes and wax, thats it.S far I have'nt had to lift it , apparantly thats the advantage with "other brands" it, s easier to lift them into the back of a truck or drag them onto the trailer
Gotta love the mighty Apex, maybe it looks dated but the 11 and newer sleds really are new and improved, not just bng.

Regarding the exhaust donuts, did you replace them with stock ones or copper? Have you checked the EXUP?

Check exup cables, buddy of mine had his damn near snap with 6K! Otherwise sounds great!

Oh yeah PS he also rides like he stole the damn thing!! Hammer down

10,000 KM on my former 2011 Apex SE.

1 bushing for a Fox Float [warranty] is it so far. Donuts & bushings are fine. Hyfax original and fine.

Change the oil & grease Drive-shaft & jack-shaft bearings annually.

Quite a sled indeed.

Buddy needed a new sled so I sold it to him & bot a new one late last spring.

I used factory donuts as I was waiting to see how the coppers did, and I thought the educated engineers at yamaha must use the shitty ones for a reason. Yes I checked the exup was working fine. This summer it will get ripped apart for new bearings, bushings, clutch cleaning, exhaust inspection, powder coating, more chrome etc.

Riceburner, are you able to pull the seals off the bearings and clean/ re-grease them? Not to hijack, but someone on another thread said they may not be rubber removable seals on the newer models...

Wow, 15,000kms in 2 seasons! I just turned 15,000kms on mine Sat. but took 4 seasons to do it. Much the same experience with my SE as yours except still on original donuts and had to replace 4 wheels, 2 upper track support bearings and 2 lower inside wheels that had the rubber chewed off @ the end of last season. Replaced original belt @ 7,500 just because I don't like blowing belts on the trail, will change again for next season. No problem greasing driveshaft & jackshaft bearings as seals remove easily but I will probably replace both before next year along with donuts, all chaincase bearings and front suspension bushings. Will also be sending out all my floats for re-build, Mega Float looses about 5lbs a week and has failed me once, I think because of water in the shock freezing @ the schrader valve. Every time you pump it up, water accumulates inside the shock due to compressing the air, this builds up over time. With 150lbs in it I removed the schrader and lots of water came out under pressure.

When new I removed the rear suspension and painted it with Bed Liner, wow what a difference, no rust and barely any chips, I highly recommend.
Overall, this sled has been much more durable than my 2006 ER, which I sold with 15,000kms. I was hoping for something to replace it this year but can't live without EPS so Viper is out. Guess I'll have to wait for 2016? But this sled could keep me satisfied for another 15,00kms. :sled1:

The 2011 and newer are much better machines. Lower Maintenance and more reliable.

I purchased a 2011 left over this past fall. Seems I have a habit of buying the models when they have reached the peak of there design potential. Bought an 05 RX-1 too. The 1st one was bullet proof and this seems that it is hitting the mark as well. What a smooth, powerful runner. Happy..

What do you have for a track? The woodies work ok with the pro backers? I am considering the those when I replace my track this summer.

Ah crap, spoke too soon as usual...need a weld job on the single pipe coming out of the exup, and broke off a corroded exup cable
Gettin it out, was sounding as bad as an AC
four toker.
