After the first 15 minutes on my new GT I was missing my old F5- it just didn't have the power I was used to and the holeshot wasn't what everyone said it would be. Then we stopped for a break and everyone in our group pretty much said the same thing so i think alot of it was the conditions- 6" of new snow but no base so we were spinning a lot.
Also I wasn't thrilled with the sound- sounds great at idle and top end but mid-range sounds pretty doggy- a little like a 2 stroke with a fouled plug. I took some good natured ribbing from my buddies who said it sounded like it was farting! They did say it was sounding better the more I rode so maybe it was just the break-in period.
I have read on here that these sleds are de-tuned by the computer for break-in and run better after 100 miles or so. I have to believe thats true because right after 100 miles it really started running great and pulling hard all the way to a top speed of 90.
I loved the way it rode and soaked up the bumps with ease and this thing is super easy to jump and land smoothly. The ergonomics are great and the wind potection was very good even with my low windshield.
I was riding with an 2005 Mach Z, 2004 F7 and an 2006 Aprex RTX and I was able to hang right with them in the trails. On the road it was a different story of course but these are all big gun sleds. For an 80 HP 500 the Phazer is a pretty remarkable sled- it wont win many drag races but it will hold it's own against pretty much anything in the trails.

nice report, i think that phazer will smoke a f5 when broken in, give it some time to break in, it will all jelly together and be great

Not the old F5s with 105hp...

The new F5s do not have power valves so they are only 80hp

The only thing I was a little disappointed in was the holeshot was not what I expected from reading reports on here. I have 96 1.075 studs down the middle so traction shouldn't be the issue although there was no base on the trails.
Like I said it was really starting to come alive after 100 miles so maybe it will just keep getting better.
As far as beating an F5 I really dont think so- my '03 really ripped and in fact I won second place in the Schuss Mountain Hill Climb last year (in the 500 class). I was beaten by Rev SS which is really a 600.

wow, i didn't know the f-5 was pushing 105 h.p., i still think once the phazer breaks in it will be close, what's the top on an f-5?

Your going to need some base for the shorty's to grip and transer. JMO. Nice looking GT, I love the red.

The lighter the sled the worse it will ride in those conditions.

That was on the old style F5s
the new ones don't have power valves and only make 80hp and weigh in more then the phazer so it shouldn't have a problem with these new ones

I hit 106 on GPS in perfect conditons once on my '03 F5.
I had a MBRP can on it and it sounded awesome- I really miss that and I hope someone makes a good sounding exhaust for the Phazer with a reasonable price.
I've bought almost all the aftermarket accessories available so far now I just hope there will be some performance mods soon.

power valves have nothing to do with peak horse power, they are there to provide better torque and throttle response at lower revs.

I think the fx gearing is different than the gt the fx that I drove was alot faster than the gt.I drove them back to back. The fx also handled 10 times better and was more fun to drive.I would check into the gearing. It might be a cheap upgrade.

Can the fx be faster than the gt...? Isnt gearing on the gt 20/41 and on fx 18/41?
Tought the gt would be faster than fx.
