188 hp Apex

I like the thought of 188 hp without the inconvenience of filling nos bottles or limited time at whatever hp. I also like the sleeper effect you can not get with turbos or SC. I think 188 sounds sweet!

Talked to Dyno Ray last week about his engine mods. He said that with his cams, porting and intake mod plus a fuel controller it should make the same power his RX package makes with bigger carbs which is 188 HP. The price is about $2,300 US. This is for everything except the fuel controller. He is not done with the intake mod yet so he does not have an exact price yet. The way I understand it he is making some kind of spacer to go between the head and throttle bodies to allow each cylinder to feed off of more than 1 throttle body. Some king of cross over? This is also with you installing the parts.

How much is the fuel controller going to be? I'm very interested in this

188 is kinda low - can you use pump gas with that set up? 220 with a turbo is very common reliable pump gas set up - flip the switch and see about 50 more hp on race gas - turbo is the way to go - we have had all 3 set ups and its best of all 3 over all for trail or race.

I have been browsing the turbo forum. After reading this I think I will definately go with this option. It seems like there is a small amount of people that can actually just install a turbo or SC and just run it. All people talk about is cracked headers, having to run race fuel, having to add and monitor guages, after spending 4-5g on the turbo buying low comp pistons or triple head gaskets, turbo lag, smaller tanks, underhood heat, blown motors, added weight, adjusting fueling over and over. There were people that said they had lots of trouble free miles but it did not seam like a lot. One person with a turbo said most people will spend 1-2,000 on extras to make them run well and reliably. If I want more ponies than that he also offers a 1108 big bore. I think it is about $2,000 more.

I would worry about the intake modification. The addition of a plenum between the cylinder and throttle bodies will definitely require some R & D.
