1st problem after 5600 miles logged.

The chain case bearings are lubed by the oil.

I have had Polaris sleds, and agree about the grease fittings. I don't know why the OEMs don't want to add zerks. I can't beleive it's cost. The 05 skid is a good example.

Well the bearings are probably good as junk. I'll need to replace them. I never greased them, I did hear about needle feeding the jackshaft and that was it. Riding season is done here, I can start disassembling the sled now.

I imagine it probably is cost. It is not just the zerk its the added steps, processes and proceedures needed to add them..

I think you are right. Yamaha should add them as it seems to be a necesary need for proper maintainence.

Do you find the seal stays in the bearing and seals ok once it is pried out? Mine was very loose and I never had the seal out before..

If you are careful it should reseal. I had some that were loose when they ran out of grease. Someone was drilling a hole in the seal, and resealing with silicone.

Thanks for the tips and I do also have a needle adapter for my grease gun, I had planned to replace both bearings before the beginning of next season on all 3 of our sleds prior to the problem occurring. I like it when a plan comes together !! ;)!
