Well all I can say is the sleds 20 feet under water and can't get to it till spring !!! So it will be under water for at least 5 months any advice once it comes out? It's a 04 yamaha rx warrior?
Thanks for any advice ... :o|

boat anchor?, sorry, that wasn't very nice of me. Can you find a really large bag of rice to put the sled into to dry it out? otherwise I would think of parting it out.

Don't think that's an option. My fathers last moments moments were on this sled!!!

wait.... whut?

electrical will be shot, if not right away will go eventually, water and motors do not mix, corrosion everywhere

My dad was on his sled in a snowstorm an I guess got lost out on the lake and ended right into open water and never made it out!!! Sled belonged to him now I would like to keep it for a memory an make a memorial sled or something.... That's the long story short... I relize that if it was any other sled I'd probably just leave it there but this one means a little more if you's know what I mean...

Thats too sad. Its tough loosing your dad. Your tougher than me, I would have to cut up and distroy that sled and send it to a junk yard.
That being said, it can be saved. 10 minutes or 10 months under water dosn't mater as long as it isn't salt water.
The minute it's out of the water, start drying it out. Remove the seat cover and hange foam out in sun several days. Disconnect EVERY electrical connector. You may have to disassembel the engine, but I would try to do it without disassembly. All Chassis bearings and piviot shafts will have to be removed, cleaned and repacked with grease. Its going to be a VERY long process. Good luck to you.

dry it as fast as you can take everything apart and clean it. The motor will need to be removed and took apart. Most of the matel will rust with in 24hours after it comes out of the water. Spray everything with WD40 push grase in every point. Pull the seat and take off the seat cover and get new foem. Get a new/used exhaust.

i am sorry for your loss... if you need help getting this thing snow ready again this is the BEST place to get questions answered :rocks:

Thats terrible. If it helps take your mind off the loss of your dad then I am all for it.If it were me I would consider finding a tank size of snowmobile and immediately after getting the sled out submerge it in the tank filled with Diesel or mineral spirits. This should give you the time needed to get all apart and drained without fear of rust.If right sized tank 55 gallons could be enough and with a good water filter could be reused at least in a fueloil furnace without trouble.

what lake this happen at?
