I got 28" Mud Bugs on front and 27" on back. But I was wondering if there is anything I can do instead of spending 250.00 on a clutch kit. Need some more bottom and mid.
The Grizzly lost a lot of power with the big tires and need to be able to smoke my brothers 450 foreman again.

Thanks

I had 27" tires on my 04 griz and still got 61 mph. but did notice that it did take a lot of power away in high range. Now I have 26" tires on and it seems to have gotten a little more back , Im like you I did not want to spend the $$ on a clutch kit but if you go bigger than 1 size over stock its inevidable you will need a kit, or you will wear it out.But mine is also piped and jetted and K&N filtered.Just wondering why do you have diff. size tires , they must rub?I have never heard of any griz with diff. height tires before.

i wanted to go to 28s but could only get 27 for front. 28s were not offered. And the yamaha dealership told me that was fine. Actually the sales person picked them out for me. But what did you mean by wear them out?

remember he has the 01 600 cc quad.. that makes a big difference

Thats true , my bad, I forgot that a 01 griz was a 600.Yeah hes losing a lot of power with the rotating mass of those big tires , he best buy the clutch kit.

I think he should check the circumference of the tires too. It could be binding things up a little. When I put two inch wider tires on my old 600 it lost some power and top end.

I am not sure if that is a good idea running different sized tires front and back? Your diffs are going to be spinning at different speeds so I am thinking something is going to let go?

Have you tried an aftermarket filter and a exhaust power tip? I did these 2 mods to mine and I think I got most if not all my power back from putting on 27" 589's?.........Irv

Where would I get a exhaust power tip or do you mean a slipon exhaust. I never thought about changing the filter though, thanks.

Go to E-Bay, got to atv's and then type in power tip, you will see all kinds. Good Luck........Irv
