2001 Grizzly

Newbie to the Grizzly. Just got her last week, traded my 03 Viper on it. Anyway when I go through water, say probally more than 1 -1 1/2 ft deep, my bike is basically stalling. It is the same thing as if you turn the key off and then back on, she completly dies, until the water drops and then she will cut back in. The mechanic at the dealership here said it was the coil on front and put grease on it but it still happened. Just wondering what you guys thought.

I used totallyamaha.net alot and always got good responses there so I figured this place would be just a good.

Your described symptoms do indicate a water short.

Since you didn't mention it and since I've made the mistake myself, you need to use "Dielectric" grease on your electrical connections.

There are a number of different brands and it should be readily available at auto parts stores.

Steve has the right idea...another thing that works great is silicone spray...spray the plug, wire and coil...help a ton.

the 1st gen Grizzlies were notorious for the steam stalling problem

hot engine hitting water and a ton of steam of the pipe and engine

try hitting the holes slower or try and make a guard that covers the front of the engine

a snorkel on the air intake also will help

Tiller, took your idea and made a snorkel, I moved the intake from in front of the motor to right up by the handle bars, and what a difference, I had water up to the top of the racks, and no problem. So thanks.
