- 2003 rx1 er
i bought a 2003 rx1. it had been starting fine and i drove it around the yard a bit, i went out to fire it up last night and it turns over good but will not fire up.i dont believe it is getting fuel, it did have old gas in it so i added more new stuff with some gas additive to get rid of any possible water. it was minus23 out. so the only thing that has changed really is the temperature outside.could water have froze someplace? could the fuel pumps have lost there prime somehow. i guess i'll start by checking the gas line in the tank, maybe its clogged. its kinda odd as it was starting up and running perefctly. until now lol. any advice would be welcome....i am no mechanic by any means but im somewhat knowledgable about engines, but i have never owned a 4 stroke before. thanks!

Not unusual in these temperatures with old gas in a carbed Yamaha 4 stroke.
Old gas doesn't start well in cold weather.
Put in fresh spark plugs usually works.
If not available, try taking out the old plugs, clean em and gap em.
Charge battery to full or boost sled so you have lots of voltage and amperage.
Put a teaspoon of gas down each cylinder.
Put in hot/warm spark plugs, choke on and crank er.
Should start right away.
If it doesn't put some heat to it with hairdryer or portable heater for awhile & try again.

first thing I'd do is starting fluid. If that doesnt work, clean the carbs.
