bought a heat exchanger for my 2004 warrior 136'' track. can anyone tell me the best install method. How do you get it under the tunnel protectors.

If you bought the rx mountain cooler, it is riveted to the underside of the aluminum tunel extension.... I'm not sure the smaller rx-1 cooler will even work on the warrior....

If you have the larger mountain cooler installed and you are studded, you will need to fabricate some tunel protector extensions...do a search there are many threads, some with pics...

I believe I have the large one, got it from yamaha for this sled because of the over heat problem yamaha says they dont have. I do not have studs but looking under the sled it looks to me like there is two long alluminum square tubes that run from front to back. these will be in the way. are they rivited on, and do they need to be removed or can one cheat and bend them down?

Check out this link...it's to one of my posts in this forum, actually only down a couple if you want to read the entire thread. I just got done installing the heat exchanger and protectors on my Warrior. There are several pics of Sleddheadd's install also....check it out and it will give you some ideas, but yes, you will have to cut the factory tunnel protectors off for the new cooler to fit....and to get the factory cross tube out for that matter. I had to cut mine off just behind the farthest rear of the three holes to get the cooler wiggled up in there and into place. You will also need to cut a larger hole on one side of the tunnel to get the cooler in, once you get dug into it, you will see what I mean. It is not a quick and neccessarily easy project so set a good amount of time aside to do it....as Len Todd says, "speed kills"....
